i think it looks good, i could see it used for some ncaa mens games. Anyone think they should have one game at harbor yard earlier in the year against a good team, id like to see the turnout

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but I think we can accommodate FC fans with games in NYC - like this upcoming season we have games at both MSG & Barclay's. I like this arrangement better as for as Greater NY outreach goes.

The women are in negotiations to play a game there during the regular season. I think, but am not sure, that the men's team is looking at the venue as well.

It's a great arena. The only problem is parking. They charged $20 a car today and it took 20 minutes to get out of the parking lot.

I know that it's not for everyone, but you can walk from the train station.

UCONN could certainly do some neutral site games against some NYC teams at this arena. It will help promote UCONN in Fairfield County and in NYC. UCONN needs to continue to build its presence in NYC.

Let the women play at Harbor Hard. Id rather see the men play a game at Mohegan in November or December. That would be good to take the place of an XL Center game that would draw 10,000 anyway.

The Bridgeport Arena is great; been there many times. Fairfield U plays its home games there and average below half capacity attendance-wise...not sure why it ever moved off campus (prob the money thrown its way).
Anyway, is there enough money to go around and have this played as a UConn "away" game? - Just a thought.
Happy Easter, all.

There is an NCAA rule against college games at venues that have gambling.

Do you mean NCAA tournament games? I think it is too small for a men's tournament site, only 10k. I'm not sure but the smallest arena I can recall hosting the tournament is the Dunk and that holds 12+.

Mohegan has hosted dozens of games. Central has played there like a half dozen times.

The WAC, WCC and Pac 12 all play their tournaments in casinos.

My bad, then. There was discussion of banning casinos as venues but I guess the $$ was too much to pass up. There are rules banning casinos as lodging (see link, Section II Lodging, p. 19) and casinos can't advertise during NCAA games (see Sports Issues at this link) but I guess it's ok to play games there. Don't you love the consistency of the NCAA?

Took the train from Milford to Bridgeport- 8 minute walk to the arena from the station.

I like it. Would have to be a nuetral/away game because of season ticket issues though.

Someone should post a pic of the new scoreboard at the Bridgeport Arena. It's gigantic and what the XL Center badly needs.

I don't live in CT anymore, but I think it's a fantastic idea to play a game or two in fairfield county. I grew up in the county and has some of the best sports fans (okay I'm biased). As someone else mentioned you can take the train to the arena, only a short walk. If the arena held 12k, I think it would be no brainer.

Mohegan has hosted a early season tournaments the past several years called the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Some were pretty headliners

It's awesome. They have the wrap around message board that all the new arenas have too. I fully back the men playing a road game at Fairfield there, like the women did at UHart. The committee has a for major teams playing away at mid-majors anyways.

Except for pre-season tournaments, or only in the US? Atlantis is both the venue and lodging.

Central played umess at Mohegan a few years back

I've seen them there 5 times I remember. Twice for UMass, Holy Cross and twice in the CT-6.

The Holy Cross game was a double header with Rhode Island and Oklahoma State.
