Yesterday I took a trip up I-75 to Knoxville and and made my first ever trip to the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame. It was about what I expected but still a good place to visit. There wasn't a lot of new information for me but it was still a nice stop and I enjoyed the time I spent there. I was curious who on this board had visited and what they thought.

I did see what I assume is a mistake in one of the displays about Pat's FF appearances (of all things) but was pleased to see some photographs of MSU in the FF and a display about the Delta State program of the mid 70s. I also saw where Catch, Swin, and Lauren Jackson, among others, were being inducted this fall after the COVID delay. All three ladies deserve it.

Maybe sacrilegious to speak of on this board but was curious if any of our posters had made the trip south to Knoxville to visit it.

Several years ago we stopped in Knoxville on our way back from Florida and toured the HOF. We enjoyed the visit. I especially liked the "older" exhibits (like the Delta State exhibit). We are relatively new to WBB - began following the sport in 2007 - so even today are still somewhat in "catch up" mode. Once or twice a week I find myself doing some research to find information on a player, coach or event mentioned here on the Boneyard.

Yes and I even had my wife take a photo of me next to Pat's statue! Pat and Geno made amends by 2012, which was her last season and Geno has graciously donated and spoken on behalf of her foundation. It's the Tennessee fans that can't move on in life that are our irritant.

Always make it an annual trip when my wife goes to see her family in Knoxville, minus last year. Love the WBHOF. Great place with so much history of the women's game. I started going, probably, around 2004-05 range.

Would love to visit someday, but honestly Tennessee isn't very high on my "states to visit" list. But definitely someday! Have been to Naismith since it is a half hour from me!

They probably included the AIAW Final Four. I count the Gamecocks' trip to the AIAW F4 as a trip.

Toured twice, I think. We were there for CVS's induction, which included some events at the hall and we returned a few years later when Rutgers was playing at Tennessee - I think the Clockgate game.

Wonderful facility, very interesting - there was a Geno exhibit during one of my visits featuring his talking in the locker room during a half time - telling his team that the opponent (Villanova, I believe) "wished they had our problems".

I am glad some others here have visited. Honestly I don't have an excuse other than I had just never taken the time to drive there but it's an easy trip. It was a nice day and experience. I will definitely go back someday in a few years.

Actually a listing in the hall of college coaches and their NCAA final four appearances had Pat listed as being there in 1999. Long time fans know that was the 3 peat team who was gunning for another title but lost to Duke in the E8 in the game that helped put Goestenkors and the Blue Devils on the national map. I was surprised when I saw it and snapped a photo, wondering if there was something I was misunderstanding.

I went a long time ago, circa 2002. I remember really enjoying it a lot. Definitely worth seeing at least once.

SpotsGuy, if you have any questions about wcbb now, or in days of “yore”, there are folks here that can give you true and correct answers, no matter how obscure the query may be. The Boneyard is home to some of the most knowledgeable and intelligent basketball fans on the World Wide Web. ;)

Well I e-mailed the photo of the placard with the incorrect info to the hall and received a reply that it was in fact an error that would be corrected. The card contained a couple of inaccuracies that were due to a printing error per their reply.

I hopefully didn't come off too crazy, it just caught me off guard.

I agree this is the place for info. I have a solid knowledge base of the old days but nothing compared to some who frequent here.

I appreciate that you took pains to guard against the usual anti-Vol backlash :) but ...

Just in case anyone thought that supporting and loving the WBHOF was, by virtue of its location, somehow at odds with our allegiance to UConn WBB, we should take our cue from Geno:

And then there's the rest of us...

Negative!! You're part of this intelligent and informed group too. We feed off of each other....................kinda like the Borg, we're a "collective." :)

Just because the WHOF is in Knoxvillw doesn't make it a LV thing. My understanding is we are pretty well represented there, and likely will be more so in few more years. Geno, Chris, Rebecca and Jen are all honorees.

Thank you for this and the list. That is an impressive listing of who's who in WBB history. Lots of refs, too.

In the interest of completeness, Kara Wolters is also in the Hall from UConn. I didn't notice anyone else you didn't mention, but I wasn't really looking. Most of the great players in UConn history that might be deserving are still active.

You know, I know that. I'm not sure how I missed that since she is a favorite of mine. Thanks for the assist!
