No where other than here on the UCONN Women's Basketball Boneyard is there a greater concentration of Women's Basketball passionate and at times objective fans. They need us now more than ever and the time is ripe. We need to find a way to convey to the NCAA administrators how much we, the fans, despise how the women student athletes are treated, not just in relationship to men's sports but way beyond that in terms of earned respect denied by society as a whole. We love our UCONN women, respect them and now it is time to harness our protective instincts to emphatically convey to the NCAA and "women sport's haters" how misguided and outright unfair they are in their lack of appreciation and support of female athletes of all ages. We here on the boneyard are a special group, we are fierce at times in our support of female athletes, and we love to post our opinions. Lets organize to have a louder voice, one that is actually heard by those in power, to leverage our passion, knowledge, and pain that these athletes we so respect are treated so poorly. It is beyond my skill set to organize and put into action such a plan, and perhaps it is not allowed by the rules of the boneyard. But we must find a way to do it just as the professional women basketball players have exerted a powerful influence to bring to light unjust perceptions and bias by powerful people. They need our support to keep the pressure on decision makers. As GA recently succinctly laid out the years of unequal treatment of female athletes with the latest example being the lousy gym facilities for the Women's NCAA Tournament, the time has come for those of us who most revere our female athletes to actually support them in a tangible manner. We would do it for our own daughter's, we need to do it for our female athletes now.
