The WNBA is back! The league made a powerful statement about social justice by honoring Breonna Taylor, and some teams made statements with strong starts to this season in Bradenton, Florida. No. 1 draft pick Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty was one of several rookies who made their pro debuts, but none was better than No. 4 selection Chennedy Carter of the Atlanta Dream.

I doubt there will be a tight ROY contest this year like last year. Carter in a landslide.

I find it mind blowing how even seemingly knowledgable basketball fans can come to such quick conclusions based on just one game. This applies to both individual player and team evaluations. Everyone who has ever played the game should know that a player can be hot one game and cold as ice the next. A lot also depends on if a player is known as a streak shooter or if they are generally consistent. Arika O for example is a streak shooter who had a bad first game. There are some players who fit this bill and can carry a team when they are hot or shoot their team out of a win when they are cold.

As Lee Corso says: not so fast my friend. Even though one of her coaches said yesterday before the game that she's unguardable, there is still a lot of season left before we turn in our ballots for ROY. She hasn't been in the league 5 minutes. She must be raising lots of eyebrows and opening mouths in their practices.

We know she's going to shoot a lot, and score lots of points. Volume shooters usually do. Question is, will her teammates like playing with her? Will she hog the ball (like she sometimes did at Texas A&M), or spread it and create a rhythm and flow so that everyone can "get some"? It will do her team no good for her to score 25, with 2 assists, and her team loses. What do I think? I'm from Missouri...........we'll see. There are some other promising rookies that may have something to say about the award.

Well, she had 8 assists (only 2TOs) and some were dimes and she plays tough physical defense imo. Gets to the line often and makes her FT's so even in a shooting slump that should help, Finally, they were putrid last year. Her teammates already know who runs the ship and she is their hope to get to the playoffs.

I am a Liberty fan and I am jealous. Sabrina will grow into a very good player but that depends on her teammate development but Carter is a physical and dynamic star

I’m a Liberty fan also. Been one since they drafted Kiah Stokes. Let’s wait and look at her stats after 5 games, then again at the halfway point. She might be all that and a bag of chips, but she’s got to “SHOW ME”. Five games is a better sample size. Eleven is even better. The cream always rises to the top. If she’s the real deal, she will.

Your jealous? This conversation just got me craving for some chips and I was just at the store and didn't, but should have bought some.
