My thought for naming the new WNBA team in the San Francisco bay area is The Bay City Amazon's. The men's team is the Warriors, and Amazon women by definition are tall fierce and assertive female warriors. Just a fun topic.

I personally like the Bay-Gulls.

I think that was already used by a Roller Derby team.

Oakland is famous for having teams from four major sports move out.

If the other team goes into Portland, I wonder if they will be affiliated with the Trailblazers. A tough name to parley into a WNBA team name... If you think of trail blazing as forging a new path, maybe the Accelerators? Kind of dumb but I'm at a loss for a reasonable synonym. Progressors? Ugh LOL

I am really surprised by the Bay Area location. Hope it works out.

No reason it can be used again. Many teams have used previously used names. I see it as a great way to play off the mens team name.

The Golden State team will be supported by SC30. Maybe they should be the Curried GOATs.

Isn’t Portland the food court truck capital of the US?

Portland Food Truckers
Portland Meals of Wheels
Portland Lunch on the Run
Portland Damn that Smells so Good

Portland Penny - Since the name of the city was decided on a coin flip.

I know. It would be a tribute.

I would go with Golden State Warrioress and the Portland Pioneers.

Portland Pioneer Women( I assume the Pioneer Woman statue is still there /unless they took it down for being culturally offensive.)

Bay City Burners is my vote. Half of the Bay Area go to burning man. I actually met Liz Cambage at Burning Man a few years back.

FYI - Portland has a famous donut shop called voodoo donuts or something like that. Just think about the logo they could create, the marketing, and the mascot. BTW 1/4 of all Lamas in the US live in the state.

What is:was the name of the Pie shop that was/is the late night hangout for Portland’s weirder citizens? ( I haven’t been back since the early 90s.)
