WNBA 2026

Yeah, I have been a fan of Saylor's since Day One. I love her game. I just wish that things worked out for her at UConn. But she did well at Arkansas and showed another level at Maryland.
She's a great defensive rebounder. Her shooting is very inconsistent.

and wasn't she 'known' as a shooter coming out of HS? good for her to find a way to be a success because i don't think she's ever had a good shooting college season.

She shot 36% from the field and 29% from 3 in college. Those stats will have to improve if she is going to stick around. She is an elite rebounder; that’s going to give her a chance. Sticking around will require shooting improvement though.

I read that AB, Ty, and Lexie would play if this was a regular season game but they're sitting out of this preseason game out of an abundance of caution. Dantas is dealing with a visa issue and who knows when that will resolve...
If Wnba.com is accurate the Liberty have improved their backcourt with the signing of Marine Johannes. Sabrina said she wants to play more without the ball, and signing Marine does that.

☹️ Dang. One of the feel good stories and a great example of perseverance from last season.
That perseverance took place over 7 years. Kat was on the ND team that won the NC in 2018 and she labored here, there and everywhere from then until 2025 to stick in the WNBA. She went from an inside-out high post to an outside-in long-range thread.

Now, I've got to figure out why little 'sis Maddy was nowhere to be found at the Sky-Mercury game this past weekend.

.-.
Has Tina Charles or Bria Hartley hooked up with a team yet? I keep checking WNBA transactions but have not seen anything.

I have to say that I feel like Cardoso has regressed since her senior year. She looks out of control at times and she doesn't seem to use the post moves she learned in college, preferring to play more face up. I think she can have a bright career but 1) She needs to grow up a little and not rely on outside pressure to push her into greatness and 2) I am not impressed by this Chicago staff's ability to develop her.

#1 is maturity, which will hopefully come. However, while that's taking place, it sure as heck would be helpful to have a good post coach to keep her on track. Too bad for her that Natalie Achonwa went from Michigan to Seattle, rather than Chicago. That said, Ace will be working with three great potential pupils.

So what are folks doing to watch the games? I looked at the streaming package - it seems to have a lot of restrictions and you get a lot of games a day later. It looks like we'll get a lot of games on Ion (we have YoutubeTV) and then some will be on regular broadcast and a handful on Disney. We will miss the games on Prime but that's not enough to get me to add ANOTHER streamer. So for this year, I don't think we'll buy the WNBA streaming package. Anyone else?

Lots of Culling of Rosters Took Place Today in the W.
Best of luck to those let go from these teams with next opportunities.

Chicago Sky

Jordan Hobbs was waived by the Chicago Sky.

Megan Nestor was waived by the Chicago Sky.

Phoenix Mercury

Jaime Nared was waived by the Phoenix Mercury.

Aisha Sheppard was waived by the Phoenix Mercury.

Maggie Doogan was waived by the Phoenix Mercury.

Yarden Garzon was waived by the Phoenix Mercury.

Thoughts:
  • With Kat Westbeld out for the year, thought a similarly sized forward like Doogan might get a look. Apparently not (here).
  • Could Yarden Garzon, who can shoot the long ball, get a look at a team that needs three-point snipers, such as Washington?

Toronto Tempo

Dara Mabrey was waived by the Toronto Tempo.

Maddison Rocci was waived by the Toronto Tempo.

Kristy Wallace was waived by the Toronto Tempo.

Thoughts:
- Well, Belmar in Toronto lasted for a week for the sisters Mabrey.

New York Liberty

Ny'Ceara Pryor was waived by the New York Liberty.

Ashley Owusu was waived by the New York Liberty.

Thoughts:
- Owusu looked trimmer this time around, but she really hasn't been the same since her injury at and leaving Maryland.

Seattle Storm

Elle Ladine was waived by the Seattle Storm.

Jalyn Brown was waived by the Seattle Storm.

Beatrice Mompremier was waived by the Seattle Storm.

Thoughts:
- Mompremier tried out on a team with three stellar bigs. Maybe there's another port of call....

Paige Buckets was really, really, really good tonight. She had 20 points in 20 minutes on 8-12 shooting. The long ball was working very well!
