All these things I devoutly wish as the year turns:
  1. Nika and Aubrey continue to improve their outside shooting as what they are currently doing in offense and defense get tidier and better.
  2. Aaliyah and Dorka keep the growth going and become tempered as steel for the tournament
  3. Amari showing flashes of increased speed on court to keep up with the flow at the pace UConn wants to play - keep it going and then show the skill set!
  4. Azzi stays healthy the rest of the year, play great and be a factor in POY race
  5. Caroline finally returns to her best form
  6. Ayanna gains better control of her body
  7. Aaliyah continues to raise her outstanding play so that she may shade Aliyah (Boston) when they meet (Dorka will have to take care of the other SC bigs)
  8. Ines gets over her stitches and is appropriated playing time during Big East games, at least.
  9. The whole team continue to improve their synchronization during their read and react moments in both defense and offense, always keeping themselves and the ball moving.
  10. No more injuries in order to enable these growths.....and get them to the FF
  11. Through miracles or hard labor, beat the favored teams to win NC12.
Still 2023 but next season
  1. Paige and Ice fully recover and better conditioned for the new season.
  2. Azzi and Paige are finally fully healthy and playing well together as they had planned in coming to UConn
  3. Ice and Jana help elevate front court strength to give Aaliyah plenty of help
  4. The incoming group catch on quickly so that one other weapon in defense can be deployed more often when appropriate: the full court press (depth and speed needed).
  5. Azzi and Paige win their first NC together, and
  6. Tempt Paige to stay another year and to try again, for which they will surely be favored as Ice, Jana and Ayanna improve as expected to make up for Aaliyah's departure.
And, finally, every UConn fan visiting the Boneyard remain alive and kicking to see all these come to pass.

HAPPY GREGORIAN AND LUNAR NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL!!!!

To piggy back on @HuskyNan post above, I wish posters vote/like their favorite players but not at the expense of another to justify as to why they voted/liked theirs.

Unfortunately, one of the innate problems with singling out individuals for “awards” in a team game.

My only wishes are 2. One, no more injuries, everything else will take care of itself. Two, Aubrey returns next year.

I wish fans could root for who the players are and not who they want them to be
Nan, I think most of us do root this way. If we didn't want them to be all they can be we would be expecting things to never change, there would be no improvement. If Da coach felt like that there would be no need for practices, no weight training just status quo. I think it's human nature to want to be better, to improve, to strive for perfection. We hold hope eternal in the search for NC's we know that in order to achieve titles the team must improve during the season which means the players must improve as well. From what I read most on the BY have opinions on what needs to improve to achieve the NC goal. Most love the players and only want the best for them, those who only wish to nitpick and complain, I ignore.

I wish for a healthy team in March.

Related: Opponents quit bopping Nika and Caroline on the head and undercutting/bowling over Dorka, Aaliyah, and Aubrey.

I wish fans could root for who the players are and not who they want them to be
Is it wrong to root for what players wish to become based on who and what they are? And root for them each step they take in the progression of becoming?

Example: Breanna as a freshman? You could see what she could become when developed by these coaches and I, for one, did root at two time tracks....1) what she was and her mistake filled most of freshman season, the effort she put in and 2) what one could plainly see she would become as she learned,,,,,,,,which history has recorded, began to come to pass by the end of her freshman year.

You do not want to root for players to be stuck in place of their skill set as they are at any given slice of time, surely not! They came to UConn to develop, grow and become the best they could be. And one of the best parts of rooting for them is seeing them becoming the best player they can be as the years go by......the process itself is fascinating to see for different players.

You don't really want, say, Nika and Aubrey to stop practicing those outside shots they have themselves acknowledged they need to improve, rather you want to see them succeed in the goals they have set. Often, these players have given voice to what kind of player they want to become.....rooting for their success is, I must say, an absolute must if you want the best of the player. They all wish for their growths to never stop, why should we not want to root for them at each step they take in that endeavor???
