Not a good example. They made an off-balance prayer from 45 feet. They didn't get a legitimate shot at the basket - they just made a 1-in-500 miracle. Odds are a lot better of getting an offensive rebound and a putback than hitting that one again. Plus, if you foul in the act of shooting from midcourt, you make the bonehead plays of the year.
Using a foul to give isn't appropriate there either, in my opinion. Then you just let them advance the ball with an inbounds pass - when the clock isn't moving. You can get hung up on a screen and someone gets a clean look (sorta like the Illinois game-winner vs Indiana, only at the 3-point line).
