I figured the best way to segue from 18" of snow is to post the yearly "Wins Needed" chart. The start of the season is a little over 2 weeks away. When I post this chart it gives me the sense that spring is right around the corner (even though in actuality, spring seems like a long way away). With the combination of some very good veterans returning and many new faces, I'm looking forward to another exciting and successful season. I believe I say this every year, but I want to thank everyone that posts during the off season. You keep me and the board updated on all things UConn baseball. Also a big shout out to everyone that posts in game updates. I'm certain everyone on the board Greatly appreciates it.
My criteria for receiving an At Large bid will be the same as last year. I know it is not perfect, but I believe it gives us a pretty good idea if we are on track for a bid. The criteria is 40 wins, RPI under 50 and a conference RPI of under 10. Over the last 3 years 80 of 82 teams that met this criteria made the NCAA tourney. That is a .976 success rate. I totally understand that this does not guarantee a bid, and that also we can make the tournament without meeting these goals.
I included the following teams in the Northeast line with the New England teams. They are UNC-Wilmington, OLD Dominion, Rutgers and ETSU. Please look over the chart and let me know if you have any questions, or if you find mistakes. Can't wait for the season to start!!!!
