I thought 5-2 was a solid goal yesterday. Win at home vs. PC, Butler, and DePaul, then find a way to split the other four (vs. Creighton, @ Nova, @ Gtown, @ Xavier).

That would put us at 16-5 going into the Marquette game likely ranked around 15 with Liam hopefully coming back.

Now, I’m not sure. Great to finish it off today. But instead of trying to project I think it’s just gonna be one game at a time for me. Do what you can to hold serve each game day/night then reassess with the 30,000 foot view again on 2/1.
This sounds about right - and hope is that Liam is back for the Xavier game.

Also, I’m guessing Marquette will be undefeated in BE play for that matchup as I don’t see them losing any of those games prior. Guessing well within top 5 for that matchup with many of those teams beating each other up by Feb. Will be 6 tomorrow with Kansas and Florida losing.

If anyone watched Villanova this weekend they wouldn't be very positive about our chances in that game. Dixon is ridiculous, looking like the NBE Player of the Year, playing mostly outside and raining three's, and some of their other new guys are looking much better.

While Nova appears to be turning things around, that was a once in an every 1-2 seasons kind of game.

Longino, a career 30% shooter on 226 shots, went 5-5 from 3. Their starters went a combined 19/22 from beyond the arc.

Nice that it happened against someone else.

No idea. Team still hasn’t found its identity. Missing LM could be a blessing in disguise as it forces other players to step up. I’d say there were too many comfortable role- player mindsets. Hass is stepping up as a leader. Could be a challenging stretch but it will harden the team for when it matters.

Don’t see us at 6. I’m thinking 8 maybe 9 if we get dissed. But I do like your optimism.
I think we’ll get #9. Don’t think Florida will drop too far for losing on the road against #10. We should jump Kansas and Oregon

I’m always wrong on these but let’s try -
1-5: no change
6. Marquette
7. Kentucky
8. Florida
9. UConn
10. Texas A&M

I believe he(RuffRuff) was referring to Marquette getting to the top 5 when we play them

Undefeated. Anything less and there will be a boneyard meltdown for any/every loss.

Every team looks at UConn as their NC game and UConn can experience the A game from these teams that will give the opponents at least 5-10 points before the start of these games.
UConn can beat some of these teams on a pure talent basis but, my God, it's got to be difficult to face this every time you play. Losing Liam for an extended period is harsh (better it be early in the conference schedule vs later and facing the tournaments without him).
As long as UConn sticks to its game plan and can adjust on the fly if the shots aren't falling, they will be OK. The biggest challenge is finding the right combo of players. From what I saw yesterday, Stewie and Ross need to mature damn quick if DH is going to not look past them on the bench.

Still can get to 16-5 (as many originally predicted) with a win @ Xavier next Saturday night and taking care of business at home. That’s really a huge game for us now

Yeah Xavier just beat Marquette on the road. We will be underdogs.

Oops... Marquette went down today at home to X, that played an excellent game.

Definitely did not see that coming. While I temper my expectations with Marquette being a very flawed team, Xavier winning there was out of the blue.
