Wins in 2014 for NCAA tourney bid

Below is my Very unscientific chart that gets the baseball team to 40 wins. With the little research I have done in the past, almost all teams that reach the 40 win mark and have an RPI of less than 60 get an at large bid to NCAA tourney.

I hope someone else on this board finds this interesting. It keeps me involved in following the baseball team. Looking forward to the season. If we get some hitting production, with the expected pitching depth ( even without Carson Cross), we should have a solid season.

Gald you like it. Yesterday's game the bats came alive . Sunberg and Melly with 3 hits each, and Siena and Yavarone 2 each. Solid pitching also. Now time to get greedy and look to get a sweep this weekend.

Great weekend for UConn baseball team. Today in a 6 - 0 win over Illinois. Sundberg, Yavarone and Daniello with 2 hits each, Sienna with 3 hits. Great weekend of pitching only giving up 3 runs. Evened record at 3-3. They have 3 game series with a currently 1-6 Lipscomb team in Nashville next weekend. Hopefully they can keep momentum going.

We have a 3 game away series vs a 1 - 6 Lipscomb this weekend in Nashville. There current RPI is 266. I realize it is to early to take into account the RPI, but just included it for perspective purposes. Seems like we should be able to get at least 2 this weekend. An interesting statistic so far, is that we attempted stealing only 4 times this year ( getting throw out 3 of those times). And the opponents are 11 - 13 in stealing bases against us.

Won our 4th game in a row . A comeback 6 - 4 victory over Lipscomb. Sunberg with 3 more hits, Sienna extends his hitting streak and Hill starting to contribute more as a Freshman shortstop. Also impressed by Ruotolo, another very solid relief effort from a freshman. Wanted at least 2 of 3 this weekend. Off to a good start.

Just got back from Memphis. Great time and glad we made it to championship game. Only wish we played a little better on saturday, but Louisville is a very good team. Only followed baseball team through twitter updates. Nice we are on a 5 game winning streak. Now we need to beat CCSU , and try to get 2 of 3 from USF. In my chart below we finished 1 game below my unscientific goal with a 7 - 8 record in "Other games".

Not a great way to start our AAC season. Another tough loss. Need to salvage the weekend with a win today. Believe it or not our RPI keeps moving up even with the losses. But that will not help unless we start winning more games.

Much needed win today. The next 12 games are critical to the season. We play 9 NE / Northeast teams and a 3 game series in AAC vs a currently 8 - 12 Rutgers team. I think we need to get at least 9 wins in this stretch, but i am really hoping for 10 wins at minimum. With the ten wins our record would be 21 - 12 ( .636 % ), it gets us back in range of our season goal of winning .667 % of our games. Need to put a winning streak together. Looks like the pitching ( for most part) is up for task, hope to see more consistency from bats.
