We’re sitting at 15-4 and have a tough schedule left. 11 games to go. I’m considering the Providence game as canceled. I’m giving us wins vs Georgetown and DePaul. That puts us at 17 wins. Of the other 9 games, 5 are home/4 on the road. We could literally win all of them or lose all of them, but I’ll say we go 5-4 in those games. Puts us at 22-8 to start the BE tourney. Anyone got any logic that puts us at 26-4 or 15-15?

i chose 23, but it was pretty arbitrary. for whatever reason, i am not afraid of xavier, but i do think this team could struggle against villanova. won't be easy to win at creighton, at saint john's, and against a healthy marquette squad (i think we can revenge the seton hall loss) but i am hopeful that we can go 2/3 there. fingers crossed!

Give us the Georgetown and DePaul games, and figure 4-1 (home) and 2-2 (road) in the rest, you get 23-7 going into the BE tourney. Remember that we're 9-4 in BE road games under Hurley.

To project anything worse is to reject our 16th - 17th rankings in KenPom, Sagarin and the NET itself. Can they all be wrong?

I also said 23, and my thinking was pretty much the same as yours. We probably split with Villanova, Marquette will be tough, as well as tbe games at STJ, and at Xavier. We should be motivated to beat Seton Hall, and win at Georgetown, and our home game vs DePaul.

I said 22. I think we still need to prove it consistently against the top teams in the league.

I think we lose both Nova games, @ Xavier, and another random game, say @ St. John's, but win the rest.

We continue to bounce around the bottom of the rankings, make the BE semis, and get a #6 seed at 23-9 overall with wins over Auburn, Marquette, and Xavier highlighting our resume.

Maybe so, but remember that the next time this loses at full strength after a normal week of practice will be the first time.

If we fall apart and end up with 20 or 21 wins, have we done enough at that point to earn at large bid?

Probably, may depend on who we lose to during the home stretch. The Auburn win is huge, and a few more ranked wins would probably do it as long as we don't drop a bunch and then flame out early in the BET.

Yes. Even if we assume worst case and those 5-6 additional wins come against Creighton, St. John's, Georgetown, round 1 of the Big East against weak competition that still leaves 2 wins against the ranked teams and Seton Hall. Those 2 wins, Marquette on the road, Auburn on neutral court, along with St Bonaventure (now a Q2 win but barely), and VCU (Q2 bordering on Q1) should be enough

not being snarky, but just curious, how many teams that we played have not been at full strength? I know Auburn had Flanigan out

Auburn with no Flanigan, DePaul with no Freeman-Liberty, Marquette with no Morsell, VCU with no Baldwin

We’ve finished conference play pretty strong with Hurley if my memory serves correctly. 11 games left, a lot of these games will be coin flips. If we play like we did against DePaul, we’d go like 3-8. If we play like we did against Auburn with Hawkins starting to contribute, then we’d go like 9-2.

So I’ll say 7-4, finish fairly strong against a really tough schedule. 22-8.

Logic for 26-4 - All of the Auburn game and second half of 2nd Butler game.

Logic for 15-15 - First half of 2nd Butler game, all of DePaul game.

21-9.

Snap back to reality, ope there goes gravity

It's a crap shoot. this 4 game stretch was the key and they started off losing to the easiest opponent. 20 may be a stretch.
