Will we ever see another player make the career stats

of all the players hurley has brought in so far i thought diggins, due to his pedigree and the fact that he was still expected to be here as an upperclassman, had the most realistic chance of finishing on a top 10 list, for assists. he'll still have 3 years eligibility so not counting it out, yet.

Polley is going to be very close to 1000 points for his career at the end of the season. The more tournament games we win the better chance he will have to get it.

A player like Vital may be the last of his kind. Where is Polley for 3s made?
He's at 166, he'll need 196 to end up at #10. At his current pace he'll need 17 more games. We have 13 left, 14 if we reschedule PC, plus the BE and NCAA tournaments

In five seasons. Need an asterisk for these 5 season guys. Ray had 233 in 3 seasons. Even the oft maligned Rodney Purvis had 201 in 3 seasons.

It will take a special "type" of player to crack the top 3-5 in the "big" stats (Pts, rebounds, assists) in the current CBB landscape. By "type," it's a guy who's size/athleticism etc. does not translate to the NBA and therefore is a very good player for four years. These are your typical small guards and undersized 4's or 5's (Boat, Bazz, Jeff Adrien, Sanogo types.)
l think Sanogo will play in the league, May not be here for all 4. He’s probably only 6’8 but he has rather long arms. I got the measurements from Mike last year Sanogo had a surprising 7’3 wingspan, an inch longer than Akok. Needs one more year to lean up, become more athletic and extend his range. He had one alley-oop, I believe in the St John’s game, that showed off his improved athleticism. I’d like to see more lobs for him and less of that hook shot he does that looks good but never falls.

and to develop a consistent elbow jumper

Seriously Ray played more minutes in 3 years than Polley did in 5 and probably similar number of games

This is from my flawed memory as a student and recent grad in that time. Calhoun had not yet gotten to the point of recruiting really impactful centers and shot blockers yet (in an era when they were very valued compared to now). Donyell arrived in 91-92. Travis Knight two years later. But those teams had great defensive guards and wings, and JC employed that zone press and half court man that focused on steals. 1988-89 averaged 9 steals and 3 blocks a game. Once Donyell arrived it as 8 and 5. It wasn't until the 2000s that UConn became shot block U. In 2002-03 it was 5.8 steals and 7.7 blocks.

There was a lot less man back then. Calhoun was constantly changing defenses throughout the game. We played quite a bit of 2-3, and even 1-3-1 in the half court.

I would never malign Purvis the kid was a 2 who was stuck playing the 3 for 3 years Usually guarding bigger guys than himself. He was tough and loyal and averaged double figures all there seasons. He also had 17 points in our NCAA loss to number 1 Kansas. Are only NCAA loss in the AAC era . When some BY favorites disappeared.
He and Gibbs willed us back into that game.
By the way he played 3600 minutes in his three seasons he was a horse.
Ray played 3000 in his three season
Polley has played 2000 minutes in his five.
Less games , Torn , ACL, Covid , and a little over 20 minutes a game the minutes don’t add up.

Sure. Because Ray was great. Polley isn't. I wasn't knocking him specifically as much as the idea that the records for any team should carry an asterisk for guys who got 5 years of eligibility.
