Will Stanford not make the NCAA tournament?

Looks like the Fat Lady is warming up for Stanford. Not going well.

I know Stanford has a really good class coming in. What do you think the floor is for them? Make the tournament? Sweet 16?

The Trees lost Round 1 by double-digits. They are 16-14 and 8-10 in conference.

Not much in the way of quality wins either. Florida St., a Georgia Tech team that tanked after December...maybe Virginia Tech?

Who's ready for the 2026 season?!

I was hopeful for Stanford after they beat Georgia Tech. Now I'm not as hopeful. I do think their resume is better than some projected as “first four out” but even that would only get them a top seed in the WBIT.

The silver lining is they have reinforcements coming next year.

Next year? They will make tournament. Good class, more experience for current group, 2nd time dealing with ACC travel all help.

There's talent to be good again, but I'd prefer to see them play next year, before jumping to serious conclusions.

@packwrap was channeling the other timeline where Stanford got only partially fkůcěd by realignment... ;)
Wait, is there a multiverse on the BY? I know it's in all the movies now. I guess you can't get away from it anywhere these days.

You guys caught my slip up! :p Thought I fixed it pretty quickly.

ACC, BIgz all the same, LOL.

It's over for this year, but based on recruiting they will bounce back. After the coaching change they also had the major blow of losing Iriafen. If she had stayed, the streak would have continued.

The only one year falloff I can recall that is comparable is Notre Dame after their championship when McGraw had 4 great senior starters graduate, and then Junior Jackie Young who was draft eligible joined them, and the team went 14-18 the next year.

You don’t say? I wonder if there are any memes commemorating that?

UConn moves into 2nd place next year. :)
Do you know the respective streaks? I know Tennessee has made everyone and the Stanford Streak was 37? and our streak (UConn's) was/is something like 35.

How is the new coach over there doing in general? Is it a coaching problem, or just not enough talent on the roster? She has a helluva class coming in next season, but a bad coach will still be bad (not saying she's bad, this is just a general statement about any coach) even with good players. So what is the problem over there?

Problem this year was graduation and transfers out. (Imagine if they still had Betts- UCLA and Iriafen- USC!)

Plenty of folks not excited about new coach Paye, but next year will be a better read on her performance. She was Tara's protege.
