I am going to be optimistic about our chances to keep up. When something becomes monetized and needs to sell the product one thing is critical and it is brand recognition.

Because of that and the fact that I see CBB both men’s and women’s the second and third largest revenue generators for this new business of college athletics then I believe a school like UConn with our brand recognition in the hoops arena, having us part of the landscape makes good business sense.

It does not make sense to eliminate the few schools that have that brand recognition because it is not what is best for the business.

It will be stressful for us until we find a final home but I believe we will for the reason I mention. Our brand is iconic and it makes no sense to eliminate that from the business equation.

The 150th ranked basketball team pays its coach over 1 mil dollars. There is money to be found to make it work. The 18th ranked conference has an 8 figure media deal.

I agree with you on this. I think it is inevitable, and necessary, that the student athletes in at least the revenue sports get treated as employees. That will allow a union, which will allow collective bargaining and contracts, which will provide some structure.

And it is not the worst thing in the world if 100 or more schools drop to D2 or D3. The demographic cliff is dramatically changing the academic landscape anyway, and dropping down is the right move for a lot of these schools.

I answered no more out of hope than an opinion
This whole thing is a poorly designed, post WOKE way to put Harvard's and Yale's endowment funds to use in athletics rather than politics.

Those guys are pretty smart, ya know?

The Ivy opted out of revenue sharing as a league.
