Has anyone heard the latest about her injury in the last game. I know she walked off the court,
but is she well enough to play?

If she is still hurting why play her against Providence? For all the "play Kelis Fisher more minutes" group it will provide a chance to do that. Frankly I don't see her shooting ability as ready to play as much as some posters. Give her a year to improve that part of her game.

The men are adhering to the standard of giving injury updates 3 hours prior to game time. If the women are doing this, I haven't heard of it. Otherwise, we might know around noon.

Looking at the replay, it appears that she landed full force on her chest before hitting her face on the floor. On the bench it appeared that she was still trying to catch her breath, and I didn't see any indication of her face being injured. If that is the case, then she should be in the line-up today.

The news on the injury is far more important than whether she plays or not. Until you hear otherwise, the possibility of something serious exists, even if it is not particularly likely. A broken rib for example. At least we know it wasn't a knee. If it is a bad bruise or very tender give her a game or two off no problem.

My concern is more the season changing kind of injury, and I don't think that is the case here, but can't rule it out until we hear something specific. When we do, and she is playing tonight, or day to day, it is a big "whew" for me even if largely expected.

Unless something just came out, South Carolina fans have to nervously wait out details on Latson's injury, which could be significant new in the next couple of days as well.

Which part of her shooting ability is not ready? Her cutting to the basket is awesome and her pull-up jumper is deadly but underutilized. The long ball simply needs a larger sample size.

She is currently shooting 50.7% from the field. I would like to see her improve some on the 3 pointers.

While there is much speculation about Kayleigh’s injury, it appeared pretty clear that she has a bruised sternum from her fall on the floor. That particular injury hurts a lot, particularly when breathing. Rest and ice are usually prescribed and there is usually no long term effects.

It’s been a few days and Kayleigh very well might be ready to go. If not, sitting her for the Providence game will not impact the outcome of the game or have any real impact on UConn’s rotation going forward.

I thought Bills Fan was referring to Kelis' shooting ability, not K9's. The 3-pointer Kelis launched into orbit vs. Butler may be, at least in part, what Bills Fan is talking about. But only he knows for sure if the "her" in "her shooting ability" was about Fisher or Heckel.

One online media person said K9 did go through the hand shake line after the Butler game. If so, tnat bodes well for her participation in today's game or Saturday against SJ.

From 3 land, Kayleigh is 5/17, which is 29.4%. Not a strength of hers, but she does other things well. I believe that she will improve.
True overall, but her splits have a noticeable improvement within the first 13 games from 3 point land.

She was 1/11 in her first 6 games, including 0/5 in her first 2. Since then she is 4/6 in her last 7 games, a big improvement.

As I've said before, I hope Kayleigh is really happy at UConn. She left a major program to come here, and I hope she has no regrets. That will power her to get through any minor injuries. She may not be the key to the backcourt yet, but she will be soon.

Kelis has taken all of 5 x 3-pt shots in limited time on the court. That’s hardly much of a sample size to go on.
She has the green light to take more. Also, Geno tells players to do what they do best and she would certainly be open to take the shots.
And going back on the Boneyard website for recruting it didn't seem to say she was good or bad 3pt shooting but she isn't taking any but she is fearless during the lane etc, so why hast she taken so few -- 5 is it? So that tells us she's a confident pretty good 3pt shooter?

Jana El Alfy looked like she had a good 3pt shot in the games we saw before she came, didn't she? Are we going to say the same thing about her?

A player like K-9,( she's fearless too and she isn't shooting well but even if she plays today she'll shoot.

With KK being out today, it looks like Kayleigh is going to get a lot of minutes. I hope she's feeling 100%
Ayanna is also out with a concussion. Caroline, Ice, and Morgan all still out. Gandy available but hasn't played in some time.

Anyone still think UConn has too many players? 😉 OTOH, this will be the first game with a new starting lineup this season, which is really a blessing.
