Warde talked about the need for change. Anyone think coach p will hire some one else?

No. This is a change Warde needed to force upon Pasqualoni. Coach P's track record says he will keep DeLeone on his staff, call him the waterboy, but have input (read: call all plays) on offensive play calling.

Below, is P's conversation with Deleone after the talk with Warde

Now guys, I never saw the movie. No really. Guys come on. I NEVER SAW THE MOVIE.

A fine time to once again review Mr. DeLeone's offensive coaching resume since 1999, when he resumed coaching Syracuse's offense (he left SU in 1997 to coach the O Line of the 4-12 San Diego Chargers, then returned to SU and was their def. coordiantor in'98)

1999: Syracuse 80th in nation in total offense, 39th rushing, 88th passing (7-5 won-loss)
2000: Syracuse 52nd in total offense, 18th rushing, 92nd passing (6-5)
2001: Syracuse 93rd in total offense, 41st rushing, 98th passing (10-3)
2002: Syracuse 54th in total offense, 34th rushing, 79th passing (4-8)
2003: Syracuse 70th total offense, 26th rushing, 91st passing (6-6)
2004: Syracuse 78th total offense, 31st rushing, 100th passing (6-6)
2006: Temple 118th in total offense, 118 rushing, 98 passing (0-11)
2007: Temple 112th in total offense, 108 rushing, 73 passing (1-11)
2011: UConn 108th in total offense, 84th passing, 97th rushing (5-7)
2012: UConn 109th in total offense, 117th rushing, 64th passing (5-7)

yet Kevin Ollie has 7 months to "prove himself" and we continue hear nonsense from Storrs about "pursuing excellence". Yeah, excellence like the results produced above. Holding out hope WM is going to force a change, but not betting on it. Now that we know PP is coming back, time for Horde to do a little more digging and find out if GDL is, too. And it can't be one of these phony demotions; it's gotta be a clean cut.

It's sickening, I never could have imagined that Warde Manuel would be this bad a hire, the guy has been a disaster.

Thanks for posting that Ruskin. The only conclusion I can draw is that since they had the 93rd ranked offense and finished 10-3, in 2001, P and D figure the shittier the offense, the better their record? Ugh! I can't believe P believes in this guy the way he does.

I would really be interested to see if there is another Offensive Coordinator in all of Division 1 College football that has that kind of resume and still has a job as an OC. Warde Manuel should be fired if GDL is still the OC next year. That is embarrassing. How many chances does this guy get?

Mind boggling that this guy can even find work as an OC with that track record. The natural move is to shift GDL to coach the TE's, hope that Foley doesn't give P the finger on the way out the door and returns as OL coach, and bring in a new OC who let's face it, would be desperate for employment to take this job. Like others, there needs to be a clean break. GDL cannot be on the staff in any capacity. Expect nothing but chaos if he is demoted.

How can we be sure? That's only 10 datapoints!

Wow...when you see that in black and white the question isn't if he should be fired this year, it is how did he ever get hired. We don't know what the result of the WM/PP meeting will be yet...but UConn is in a way too tenuous of a position to see if GDL figures out how to run an offense in his 65th year.

You guys are being awfully hard on Deleone. Are you telling me you don't think "play better defense" is a good offensive philosophy?

As much as he obviously sucks, he'll be here next year. As much as I'd like to see him gone, I don't think it makes sense to force P to work with someone other than who he wants in what will likely be his last year here. P's ass is on the line, so I think it's only fair to let him go to battle with his guys. If we force a bad fit on him it doesn't help anybody.

I remember how I felt going into 2006. That was the low point for me. I didn't think we had any chance to be good that year. I feel much, much worse about the 2013 season (realignment crap aside). We have a dead man walking on the sidelines, will probably win 4-5 games, and get drubbed by Edsall at the Rent. Good times ahead.

Let it sink in that this year we had HIS MOST EFFECTIVE PASSING OFFENSE EVER. And somehow, only his SECOND worst running attack????! What a trail of despair he's left in his wake.

What is the term for nepotism if the subjects aren't relatives?

This is exactly the strategy that I've been advocating! Which, of course, means that it has almost no chance of happening...:(

P wants this job after next season he damn well better figure out what to do with GDL. He keeps him as OC they are both done after next season. No doubt in my mind about that.

If P wants to keep his job I'd love to see him move GDL to Tight Ends coach, move Foley back to the OLine and get an OC with a pulse. Moving GDL from OC to TEs would take a huge negative and make him a big positive, as all indications are he's done great with the TEs and is a decent recruiter.

This is actually pretty remarkable. What are the odds that Warde Dunkin Manuel has monitored this before? Probably not very good.

Lets compare this years scoring with 2 of our worst W/L seasons in the past:

2005: 272 points in 11 games for an average of 24.7 points per game. We played 3 ranked teams that year, #16, #16, #16. I remember a ton of injuries on both sides of the ball and having to play 3 different QB's due to injuries.

2006: 257 points in 12 games for an average of 21.4 points per game. We played 3 ranked teams that year, #6, #15, #4. A few young and inexperienced O linemen played, I believe a couple of freshmen saw time.

2012: 213 points in 12 games for an average of 17.7 points per game. We played 2 ranked teams this year, #21, #18. I don't have to give a recap because we all know what happened.

Look at the comparison between these years and it is clear how bad we were offensively. Worst scoring offense since we moved to 1-A. With the lack of ranked opponents on the schedule this year it is mind boggling how he can retain his job.

I think Donovan left in 1998 or 1999... So, GDL left in 1997 while SU had Mcnabb and came back after he left.
Did GDL have any impact with McNabb?

you're points are flawed... As has been pointed out several times, Uconn didn't have the talent this year.
given the huge bump in Big East talent, you really can't compare the 2012 to previous years.
Apples and Oranges... :D
