Why not us?

Why not US? We can be. I'd love to see some time in the near future, someone saying on national television - UConn won a football championship to go with a men's and women's basketball championship, a frozen Four championship and a College World Series championship. And throw in Soccer and Lacrosse, too...

I wonder if anyone ever won a Football championship and a men's basketball championship in the same year? I doubt it...

The way for us to pull that off would be to get a cult following like Boise had. We’d have to find a sugardaddy and then recruit absurdly well. It seem like Candle might actually be able to recruit well enough to make us really good on a national level if he had the money to offer. He’s obviously a great recruiter. It’s really surprising to me how effective this staff has been rebuilding the roster. I thought he’d be on par with Mora, maybe even a little better and that he’d be a better at in game coaching. I did not expect this level of recruiting.

Florida, Tebow's football team, Noah & others basketball team.

We have the foundation in place to build and move up the rankings. We have the staff in place to be ranked and compete with many P4 programs. Do that consistently and a conference invitation will be forthcoming. Hopefully HCJC and his staff can make as big a splash as possible in year 1 to serve notice

Why not us? Come back to me when we have $20-30M player pool to distribute (expanded for inflation, of course), an additional $10M to pay a head coach (plus inflation, plus similar money to buy assstants), a stadium that is not only filled every Saturday to SRO but has a waiting list for tickets AFTER its expansion to $50-55,000 seats, a schedule that we run undefeated with including Ohio State, Michigan, LSU, Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, Texas, Miami, Oklahoma, Indiana, Boston College (because it's so much fun to annialate them 56-3), Central Connecticut (because even national champions have a patsy on the schedule), and we move the whole university to a state in which people actually give a damn about football tather than other sports like basketball and hockey. New England is not that place.

Can it be done? Sure. It is possible to buy a national championship. Indiana just did it. So 30--40 other competitors every year.

Until we have an undefeated season where among our victims are the three most recent national champions from the B1G ( which occurred over the past three seasons), the three most recent national champions from the SEC (which occurred over the previous four seasons, compiling four titles), four of the biggest names in the sport (two that lost the most recent national title games, two more that have very recently had deep runs in the CFP) and (currently) the only P-4 New England school, it is beneath you to believe that this football program could be something?

If that's how you feel, don't let the door hit you in your fandom on the way out.

I guess you don't think so.

How about our accomplishing our first goal of getting into the ACC first?
When men’s and women’s basketball was playing in that cage back at the field house and there were dirt floors under the court and animal husbandry classes on off days, did we dream of the BiG East?
Also, do you know who we spanked 34-10 back on Aug 31,2003 at the very first game at the Rent??!!

What is a Hoosier

College football has become the latest playground for the billionaire class. They weren't satisfied with their playground that is professional sports. No, that wasn't enough. Now, with the changes involving the portal and NIL,
college football has become a fun place for them to dump $100 million in excess cash every year, and that will only increase as the billionaires intensify their competition.

The crazy thing is IU did it with football. It has been 50 years since Knight went undefeated in hoops. IU basketball has been in a wasteland for decades. Cignetti may have lit a fire under the basketball program.

People are acting like Mark Cuban is T. Boone Pickens. Cuban is supposedly financially stressed at the moment.

Indiana’s NIL budget isn’t all that. Cignetti just knows which players to sign and that it’s better if they are 3-4 years older than the people they are playing.
And Cignetti got this done with a whole bunch of JMU kids on his roster.

NIL helps but this team Indiana team actually shows that it's not everything.

Dr. Trisha Bailey I believe is a billionaire and has already donated large amounts of money to the university, $15m to athletics. Elizabeth DeLuca (thanks for Kowalski for correcting me (widow of Subway Founder)) who is also a major donor - see school of nursing $40m - is worth like $9b

Here are some wealthy norable alumni...Doug Bernstein of Melissa and Doug, Bob Kauffman of Bobs Discount Furniture, and Annie Withey of Annie's Mac and Cheese.

What do they all have in common? They like seeing their name on stuff. But Doug and Annie I'm pretty sure both sold their companies.
Bailey is worth $107 billion now. She'll probably be the first trillionaire.

She is not worth $107 billion.

I'd rather be in the B12, because I think the ACC will self destruct. However, if we did go into the ACC we would be in the top half...

Since I was there at the first game, Indiana. I still got the T-shirt from opening day. I bike to the stadium from my house.

Problem is because Cignetti figured it out, now other P4s are going to try and emulate it, increasing market demand and competition.

Our key to success is probably not remotely similar to Indiana’s, but we can take advantage of guys trying to get more snaps. Guys like Mickens who are from high-tier schools with some degree of experience are our best bet paired with some experienced call-ups.

There’s a lot of potential here in CT. Mora at least showed us that
