We are sitting him because we MIGHT have to vacate games IF something is discovered, however we aren't going anywhere without him. He sat out the last two games and we gained nothing by sitting him because we lost and if something is discovered aren't we going to have to vacate all of the wins he participated in? If yes the season would be lost anyway, so why not just play him?

Perhaps because we've already been sanctioned by the NCAA and it might not be the best idea to do more stuff that might be rules violations?

With the recent forthcomings from the Nocera pieces, I feel that the university should make a decision in support of their athlete. The fact that the NCAA is able to go about their way as they do is nothing short of BS. How would you feel as Boatright? What faith would you have in the university? The entire thing to me is mind boggling, as I am sure it is for most. Just play the kid. If you need to vacate the wins then do so. But its time to stand behind the person.

It's already been confirmed that we will not have to vacate any of the wins that Boatright played in because the NCAA cleared him to play.

While that might be true (I have no idea what the NCAA will do, regardless of rules), if the NCAA has now informed UConn the player may have issues which would make him ineligible than any games UConn decides to play Boatright in after that could be vacated. In addition, considering everything, the NCAA may decide (if UConn thumbed it's nose at the NCAA) that the situation would require further penalties/sanctions that could go pretty far for knowingly playing a player who's eligibility is in question. Thus Boatright will not play until he is OK'd by the NCAA. UConn's hands are tied.

As things stand, there are no repercussions down the line for UConn. They play him and the NCAA finds something (or just wants to be petty) UConn is in serious trouble, especially considering UConn is on probation ATM.

If it is ruled that he is ineligible (for three games we will say just for arguments sake) and we had played him the last three games and won, those three wins would be vacated and then we would have to sit him for the next two games. You have essentially sacrificed 6 games.

I suggested this in the chat the other game. I think we're better off playing him, letting the team gain the chemistry they will need to win when it really matters in March.
