We were the 34th team (the second 9th seed) according to the overall rankings. Why did we get punished being put in Kentucky's bracket when there are two other 9th seeds below us?

According to the S Curve, it should be the 33rd team matched up with the 32nd team and the #1 overall seed.

Either way, it took some bracket shuffling to put us with Kentucky.

forget KY, ISU is a terrible matchup for us, bunch of 3 chuckers

That doesn't make sense. Shouldn't they take the 36th seed with the 32nd seed? Why should the 34th and 35th seed get a better draw than the 33rd seed?

.-.
They do get a better draw, by getting worse #8 seeds.

The S Curve is constructed to be perfectly fair if chalk breaks out. #9 seeds winning are not chalk.

The S-Curve isn't that exact. For one thing, the RPI we're using isn't necessarily the same way the NCAA committee seeds the teams (Hathaway even admitted Missouri was the 8 by the committee, which would make them the 2 seed in Kentucky's bracket instead of Duke). And then once you start moving teams up and down a line to avoid first-round matchups between conference teams or get the high seeds near their homecourts with the pod system, things don't always line up exact.

Look at the other way. Kentucky must be saying, "Why did we get punished by having UConn in our bracket?" They can't be too happy about the possibility of facing us.

Well, let's be real: of all the other 8/9 seeds (Memphis, St Louis, Creighton, Alabama, K State and Southern Mississippi), we probably have the best shot at taking them down.

I agree. As far as I can recall we have beaten Kentucky that last three time we've played them(last year in Maui and the FF and in 2006 in the 2nd round when Rajon Rondo was running the point for them). But, first things first, and that is Iowa State. It's time to grab ahold of a game from the get go and throttle the life out of it. We can't be lazy defensively(not even for one play); and let this team drop a load of threes on us. Let's take it one game at a time. And we need to own Thursday!

GO HUSKIES!!! BEAT THE CYCLONES!!!

right now isu is uk. didn't they beat baylor, kansas and others?

They beat us in MSG

We played UK at the Garden a couple of years back.

It's going to come down to the last few times we faced a Squid team. If we fall behind big, early, waste all of our energy fighting our way bank into the game, it may end up as a moral victory but the season will end in a close loss. If we keep it close from the start, we'll find a way to pull it out (or blow them out once they realize we won't roll over for them, kind of what happened in Maui).

Forgot about that one. What season? Score? During the Squid's reign or when Tubby was there?

GO HUSKIES!!! BEAT THE CYCLONES!!!
09-10 season. 64-61 Loss. John Wall torched us.

im only looking at ISU im not looking past them and who says that Kentucky wont lose to the 16th seed :D

I believe 4-2. 2-0 UConn vs UMass, 0-1 UConn vs Memphis, 2-1 UConn vs Kentucky.

As small a shot as that is. Kentucky is going to win it all.

My favorite part was after Wall stole the ball and looked set for an easy fast break, Kemba caught up to him and stripped the ball from behind. Worst part: Edwards shooting a last second 3.
