Latest rumor is that the only thing left is to dot the I's and cross the T's. We'll see how this plays out. But the new incarnation is an oddity for certain. There's a Big East? News to me.

LOL! For a serious answer, because they once were a hoops power and to get the Chicago market. Oh, and I didn't realize they are a Catholic University, which has always been a strong part of the BE. I didn't realize that till I looked them up. Does anyone know if the name DePaul has to do with Paul the Apostle? If that's not the case, me thinks I look a little stupid for thinking that.We needed a BCU look alike.
The bottom of the BE looks worse this season than last. At least we don't have BCU.One might raise the same question about St Johns...who have lost to such powers as Northeastern, a CAA also ran, and Detroit-Mercy a Horizon also ran...
DePaul is named after St Vincent DePaul, the founder of the Vicentian order which is the order that founded DePaul. He was a 17th Century French priest known for his work with the poor and galley slaves. The Vincentians also run St Johns and Niagara I believe.LOL! true....they bring more real value than providence.I wonder how many Depaul-UConn games got the attention of a young UConn freshman out of Illinois.
Depaul is in because of the Chicago market.
