Or any time of year, for that matter. I mean yeah he's on the Bobcats. I get it. But he's an exciting young point guard who can score efficiently (18 ppg, 6th among point guards) on 41% shooting (just behind the likes of John Wall, Kyle Lowry, Damian Lillard, and Kyrie Irving).

He's also averaging a respectable 5 APG on a bad team.

Why don't you ever hear his name in trade interest? I hate the Knicks, but they need a PG and this kid should be playing in MSG on a full time basis.

because he's not on national TV a lot being in commercials helps too, I would be absolutely thrilled if the knicks were to get Kemba.

Unfortunately, the Bobcats probably want to build around him

I was so upset when the Bobcats drafted him. It was one of two or three teams that are just NBA purgatory.

Maybe they do, but just hearing his name in rumors of interested teams doesn't mean the Bobcats would deal him.

My question is why no teams appear to be talking to the Bobcats about him at all.

I dont understand it either, Kemba could have been an all-star this year, next year with the all-star game in MSG I could see him in it.

There's no reason for the Bobcats to be looking to trade him. He and Al Jefferson have the Bobcats as the current 8 seed in the East with a 2.5 game lead over 9th place Detroit. He's a good, young player who they're building around. And he's still on his rookie deal.

I want Kemba to get out of Charlotte as much as anyone, but the reason you don't hear his name in trade talks is because the Bobcats won't give him up. Steve Clifford has actually started to turn around that team though, and they have some solid young pieces and one of the top defenses in the league. The Bobcats have been historically awful over the past few years, but with more development of the players they have, combined with their pick this year (and likely Detroit's as well), they'll have some pieces to be a middle of the road team in the East within a couple years.

If a team seems unwilling to trade a player behind the scenes, he's probably not going to mentioned much publicly in trade talks. I'm sure a ton of teams would love Drummond, but I don't think you're going to hear his name much.

Not me so much as that would mean I'd have to root for the Knicks. I feel dirty just typing it.

There is only 2 or 3 players in the NBA the Pistons would trade Drummond for.

you and I both know there's something wrong with that comparison

Kemba is a very solid young player, but he's not on that untouchable level. You heard Kyle Lowry's name in trade talks this year. Didn't end up moving but teams asked about him. That's a more comparable situation.

Kemba is Charlotte's future. He may not be an anchor but he is like a port, for other ships (talent). He is still young and learning the NBA with a huge upside in potential. Sure he is trade-able but I don't see any market for him right now.

Good, cheap young players don't get traded. Expensive older players do. That's the main reason.

My point was not that Drummond and Kemba are on the same untouchable level. Just that not many other teams are willing to offer something in exchange that Detroit or Charlotte would find acceptable, most likely.

If Detroit were going to trade a big man, they would trade Monroe, before they would trade Drummond..

I hope Charlotte makes the playoffs and Kemba has a series where really breaks out. There's a BCU chance in Syracuse they beat Miami ;-) but a strong showing by Kemba would really help reestablish his name in the national psyche.

you mean a BCU chance in Syracuse they beat Miami once out of 7 lol, but for real though it would do a lot to help Kemba in terms of popularity and if he can have a strong showing in the playoffs it would really help him make some all-star games in the future.

Hell, it would help the franchise's image as a whole if they can put up a fight in the playoffs.

Hell, they're only a game and a half out of the fifth seed in the East. The 7/8 seeds are pretty much assured to lose in the East, but if you can get a 6 seed or higher, any team can absolutely win a series.

Want to hear a good one? I'm in the car today about 3:30 listening to 98.5 The Sports Hub in Boston and they're talking about how the Celtics didn't trade anyone and if they only get the 9th pick in the draft this year what they can expect as opposed to a top 5 pick. So they read off the names of the last 10 or 11 9th picks. Andre Drummond - "Could be a franchise player soon". Kemba Walker - "He didn't pan out so well." Huh? The guy is in his 3rd year in the league averaging over 18 ppg and 5 apg. How the heck is that not panning out? I guess that's what happens when you play for the Charlotte Bobcats. Nobody knows what the heck you are doing.

Stars are made in the playoffs. If the Cats get the Heat or Pacers in the first round and Kemba puts on a show people will definitely be taking about going into next season.
