What I don't get is, there is an optimal way to do this stuff, and its possible to fit it all on a small cheat sheet. Why don't these guys just follow it? It's not a trick.

wow, the going for two down 12 is bad enough, although you can make a plausible argument defending that decision. "you had to make a 2 at some point or score another 2 TD's"

but kicking 1 when down 13 is just inexcusable. that's a math problem
