Most years not all 4 number one seeds make the final four. This year is even tougher with 7 or 8 capable of reaching the final four.I think Stanford has the easiest path with a possible match with L'ville( if L'ville can beat Georgia which I doubt) in the elite 8 and I think Stanford wins that by double didgits.. I don't think NC State will make it.If they get to the elite 8 Texas A&M wll beat them..Can Maryland beat SC.Brenda may be coach of the year but Dawn is a better coach..I'll take SC..That leaves Uconn. If they get to the elite 8 more than likely will face Baylor..Tenn could give Baylor trouble..So the same thing as last year. The Huskies hung in there for 3 quarters with them but then Smith took over.Yes Uconn is a better defensive team than last year but how do they contain Smith from going off.Geno has a history of taking the best opposing player out of the game.Paige is a 1st team AA but so is Smith. But I'll go with Uconn by3..SO I have only NC State not making it..Of the top 8 teams with a chance to make it 7 of them have been to the final four and 6 of the coaches have won a National Championship so there is no clear cut coaches advantage

I think Stanford and UConn are unlikely to trip along the way. I also think that NC State is likely to make it. That's a good team as they have shown against SCar and twice against Louisville. Their two losses were understandable.

I don't think SCar is good enough this year. Dadgummit, our guard play is not coming through against good defenses. I think our guards COULD get us by Maryland, but we could get tripped up along the way before we get to the round of 8. Oregon State could get us in the 2nd round,

Oh heck, I think it's gonna be Maryland

Stanford has the easiest path, so they should be there. I believe NC State can handle TAMU.

UConn...I don’t like the matchup with Baylor. But if Egbo can get into foul trouble early, like she was earlier in the season, then maybe. But Baylor is playing well. Carrington is dangerous off the bench. But I think UConn will prevail.

Maryland will be the last to make it. With the loss of Grissett, South Carolina’s bench gets thinner. Maryland’s guards are big and the team is peaking at the right time. Everyone’s talking about UConn, Stanford, and South Carolina as the elite programs in the next 2-4 years. Don’t forget about Maryland...if they can keep everyone around

I guess why I'm not high on NCS is I can't get it out of my head how they we're outplayed by a bad BC team and should have lost

I don't know, but one of the commentators said something along the line of "wow" if the top 8 seeds make it to the elite 8. With the talent level so close between all of those 8, that could be about the most interesting elite 8 in a long long time.

Stanford, UConn, TAMU, and SC (I really debated if it would be Maryland or SC but Maryland has a much worse defense).

Going with a 2-seed special (other than Stanford)...

Stanford
Baylor
Maryland
Texas A&M

My odds right now are:
85% chance Stanford, 10% Georgia, 5% Louisville
70% chance UCONN, 25% Baylor, 5% Tennessee
50% Maryland, 50% South Carolina
60% NC State, 40% A&M

Tempting to snip this and send it anonymously to the NC State team as bulletin board material.

Did you WATCH the game or just look at the final score or read posts about the game?

I'll tell you why that score was what it was. Boston College shot out of their minds that game...I think it was their best THREE-shooting game of the entire season and NC State couldn't buy a basket until late the 4th quarter. Then, BC came back down to earth, NC State ratcheted up the defensive pressure, BC folded and NC State came back to win.

Go on not believing. No guarantee NC State will make the Final Four. They're going to have to re-discover their shooting touch, which was a little off during the ACCT. And there's lots of stiff competition in their part of the bracket.

I think they can be one of the final teams standing...but on the other hand, for all 13 previous trips to the Sweet 16 for NC State's storied program, it has only advanced to the Elite Eight one time -- 1998, when we beat UCONN to advance to our only Final Four.

I like Texas A&M. And Maryland. Am I certain they will make the FF - no. But the most likely non-#1 seeds, yep.

I would agree that Dawn is a better defensive coach, but Brenda is better on offense. Who’s better? I don’t know but it’s not completely clear (to me, anyway) that Dawn is the better coach. They both have one title. Oh, I did forget the “banner championship” though. Hmm, nope, not seeing it. Not as a settled fact anyway.
