First two are easy: Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong.
My third is a rotation: Ashlyn Shade (40% of time); Jana El Alfy (25% of the time); KK Arnold (15% of the time); B. Quinonez (10% of the time); someone else (multiple players: 10% of the time).

That is what will make the UConn Huskies the team to beat again next year. It was telling that at each round of this year's NCAA tournament that UConn was the betting odds favorite, and the Huskies outscored the point spread 5 of 6 games (but some bet early with a lower spread, and in their case(s) it was a 6 for 6 rate).

I enjoyed the Sue & DT show for the FF match up with UCLA on Friday night, and had it recorded Sunday, and will watch it tomorrow. Pretty cool that all the Alums present got in the pictures.

Go Huskies!!!!

Sarah and AZZI are obvious choices. My 3rd would be Ashlynn as she has EARNED a starting role. Next would be Blanca, once she has mastered Geno's system which I believe she will do quickly. I pray with all my heart that Caroline with another year to return to her Freshman play , will be a high scorer. We also have the wonder kids, KK,Morgan, Allie and Kellis and Q. To complete the team, there is JANA ,Brady and patterson. I believe we are in an excellent position to start 2025. GO HUSKIES!!!!!!

I think the answer to that question may depend on just how healthy Caroline is.

No question they miss Paige for the leadership, because she is so 'out there' in terms of her personality - she can get in any of her teammates face when required, and they all respect her for it, and acknowledge her right to do it. And then be cracking jokes with them in the next moment.

Azzi and Sarah have the talent but they are both quieter, and prefer to go about their own business. I think the two personalities that will need to step up, are KK and Shade - they have the experience and I think a more natural leadership style. And having been thrown into the fire as freshmen, and being major contributors to this championship run, and likely spending a lot of the time on offense with the ball in their hands, it would be a natural progression.

But I agree, the team as a whole should do very well next year - we have two great players and a full roster of supporting players.

And they have their mojo back!

Quinones is probably the most likely. But maybe we are just a big two with 5 or 6 other solid and reliable players?
This is pretty realistic. I'm not sure if any of the other returning players have say a star level potential of Azzi this year as the third star. Blanca probably has more upside than the returnees, and the next most likely third star is probably Williams from the portal.

Ashlynn may be the best of the returning players outside of the big 2, but she is a natural 2 as is Azzi. Neither is effective as a 1, and both are significantly less effective as a 3. Paige's versatility will be missed because she was long enough and athletic enough that her playing at the 3 or wing was not sacrificing anything at that position. A more natural 3 like Blanca has a definite advantage there if she is ready.

Williams might be the next most likely "star" if we can get her. While it is hard to imagine any big three next year being as good as this year's version, in an ideal world Blanca comes in as a star from the beginning, we get Williams and we have a big 4 instead.

You need to update your handle to "next 13" :D

In my mind they were at their best this year with KK on the floor. I think she is going to shine next year like the diamond she already is but doesn't have the light yet. Yesterday, and really all season she can get to the basket at will and is so strong the typical guard can't handle her.

I think Morgan needs to step up next year and make a difference but foot injuries have a way of derailing plans. Ash is a maybe but they need someone to have a quantum leap this offseason and usually someone does if that is what is required.

Charley Creme has already rated the top teams for next year. Don't laugh, he has UCLA number 1, South Carolina #2, and Uconn # 3. Here we go again. And I feel sure, Dawn Staley will be the coach of the year.

Good. Let them underestimate UConn. It doesn't matter. They are never focused on rankings, individual awards, seeding, placement. Geno & CD have done a great job for years and years, instilling in the team that the only goals are team goals - regular season, conference play, conference tourney, NCAA tourney.

KK needs to work on her shooting this off-season. If she can become a reliable shooter in the mid-range or from 3, then I feel pretty good with her as PG next season.

Yes, I agree. The one thing that makes me nervous about turning the reigns over to KK is she shot 21% from 3 this year; and that is with Paige Bueckers on the floor.

I left one out. WE also will have Gandy Malou TO go with the BIGS. Again Im say "we are in an excellent position for the start of the 25/26 season" !!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!!

I expect next years Big Three to be Sarah, Azzi and Blance Q. and if we get Serah Williams, add her to the mix. A big three will be a big four. And don't sleep on Jana next year. I think that Jana has the personal drive to become a great player.

I don’t know about a big three next year but kk Arnold is becoming a real force.
Just compare her drives to the hoop this year to last year much smarter, more efficient more successful
She may be the best on ball defender of quick guards in the country
Now if she can improve her outside and pull up shooting…..

Let me be a tad controversial: our real need is a Chen-type point guard as well as an experienced 5. The team roster is large, but most of the players aren't going to be of much help. No one can replace Paige, that's obvious, but we need someone more disciplined than KK, who should remain dynamic off the bench. Ash isn't a reliable enough scorer to start, IMO. Like KK, Ash is a disrupter, an avid rebounder. an occasional long-range shooter. Azzi won't bring the ball up regularly; her role is as shooting guard. She is also Buckets' heir apparent as the next authentic Husky star.
W/out steady guard play at the point and a big to share the under-the-basket duties with Sarah, the team will have shortcomings going forward. Hope, however, springs eternal.
Portal, portal, what do you got?
We need a little, not a lot.
