The only time I recall was after the Syracuse coach let his team mug our women.

If I remember correctly, even then he had too much class to do it , but the starters asked to be left in.

Did he once do this against Second Stringer?

Do I recall this correctly.

If there is any justice in the world, whover filed the compliant against Geno for his call to Mo'ne Davis is on UConn schedule this year and they will be looking at a triple digit loss.

I believe that it was only the Syracuse game, and for the reason you stated. I believe that Maya got 40 points that game? I'll have to check. I believe he calls off the dogs in all contests, I don't have a recollection of him allowing the same to happen to any other.

OK - 2009.01.17 Maya does make the 40 point mark against Syracuse. In this game, Caroline goes down with another knee injury just before the end of the first half after scoring 17 points, and Geno got t'ed up after shouting at the refs over Syracuse's physical play. They were up 56 points, and there was about 6 minutes left in the game.

That was a great game. Maya had what 10 3s? And Kaili McLaren made a great pass late in the game I believe.

In the 1998-99 season he ran it up on BC 107-77 ( in another post I said 125, sorry). By today's UCONN point margin standards, this doesn't seem like it would be "intentional", but it definitely was - he left the starters in and didn't throttle back.

No one will ever know. You cannot read his mind.

hopefully someone...not me, I'm afraid....check youtube?

I don't recall the game per se, but I do know that the UConn/BC games were intense back in the day.

My dad used to say that Geno ran "clinics" in those days with UConn easily winning by 30-40 points a game running perfect play after play after play.

Earlier that season in Boston UCONN won 78-66, but was ahead by more than that when Geno took out his starters, looked like for good. But Kathy Inglese left her starters in to catch up the score after the game was clearly decided, counter to commonly-accepted coaching courtesy. Like I said, vendetta is an Italian word.

Anybody got that game?
I can't believe I forgot the biggest thing about this game: Maya sets the school record for fastest to 1,000 pts. This isn't the full game, but has the best parts, and by best parts I mean all Maya:

I remember those games against BC. Inglese's teams were "physical" to put it mildly so I never minded when UConn dropped the hammer on them. Physical play is one thing but mugging players up & down the court is quite another. I was often surprised that Geno wasn't T'ed up more often than he was during those games. I guess Chris Daily got quite a workout holding him back!

Thanks!

There were some Marquette games (particularly at Marquette) where their players got pretty chippy and Geno told our team to go take care of business. And they did.

I seem to remember that Cuse coach said something to the effect that he had 3 or 4 players as good as Maya.

Then he's not a very good coach. Even I could get to a FF with 3-4 Maya Moores.
