Watching the Finals and seeing what Curry and Lebron are doing had me thinking, plus it's slow on the Yard. Who had UConn's best single game performance ? It could be stats, your fave, or just situation.

Off top of my head -Kemba BET final against PITT but don't remember if he lit it up the whole game.

These two are definitely up for consideration:
  • Donyell vs. St. John's (BET): 42 points (11/19 FG, 20/20 FTs), 18 reb
  • Kemba vs. Syracuse (BET): 33 points (9/18 FGs, 13/14 FTs), 12 reb, 5 ast, 6 stl

Those two came to mind along with Caron's performance against Maryland in the Elite 8. He had about as dominant a second half you could have in a loss. Ray Allen against UCLA in the tourny also had a dominant performance in a loss.

Kemba against Cincinnati - 2nd round. We were flat at the start. Looked tired and perhaps like we had hit the end of the road. Then he starts playing like a man possessed - shot out of a cannon at about the 12 minute mark - and totally changed the game before carrying us the rest of the way (33 in a 69-58 win that was a rock fight).

It's maybe the most forgotten great performance in our history - since there were so many around it. He may have been even better against SDSU, but ran out of gas a bit and Lamb carried us over the finish line.

He was 8-20 from the floor so perhaps he loses some style points.

I would say Ben Gordon against UMass in Hartford comes to mind. It was December of 2003, he was 7-8 from 3, scoring 34 points.

He was on fire!

Here's JC's comments on BG after that game:
"He can do anything he wants….He can get his shot off. He’s like Ray – he can get his shot every time….We’ve had some guys that were terrific before. He’s moving himself into that category."

Kemba led everyone on both teams in points, rebounds, assists and steals, in his fourth game in four days. That gets my vote.

all the more painful that he missed both when we only needed one against UF...

I hope somebody mentions Brimah's 40 and 12 against Coppin State so this thread goes seven pages.

In all seriousness, age bias comes into play for me...but Kemba against Syracuse in the BET that others have mentioned. Go back and watch him on every possession in that game - his stat line was incredible, but his performance was twice as good. You'll rarely see a guard dominate a game like that.

It's hard to compare the performances we have seen in the last few years with what we saw in the 90's and early 00's because of the enormous gap in tempo of play.

Kemba against Syracuse in the BET may be the best college performance I've ever seen. It was especially sweet considering how bad he was against them in the regular season matchup.

Caron against MD... Dude looked unbelievably dominant... Kemba has 3 or 4 games that would be close, but Caron was just so physically dominating in every possible aspect.

This doesn't really belong on this particular list, but I've always admired Rip's 24 or so facing a box and one (and soul-crushing pressure) against Gonzaga. He had a couple dump down passes to Voskuhl late off of curls for layups that were just huge, huge plays to keep it a two-possession game and take some of the pressure off. He had to step up big time with KEA having his worst game as a Husky.

To me Caron was easily the most dominate looking player as a freshman at UCONN. And yes the MARYLAND games was I think a UCONN player at their best. There were other players here that were better (not many) but to me his dominance was more visible. To me his years at UCONN were probably my favorite. That game against Arizona with a freshman Okafor and Gordon and a sophomore Caron is probably my favorite game. I remember I fought with my new older hot stripper girlfriend just to watch it and I was so happy I did. I remember I missed a really good St Johns game that year because of her. The good old days.

AJ Price at Marq in '09. 36 on the road has to get a mention.

I think my memory is servely enhanced by the crossover against McNeal.

Everyone always thinks it's a crossover AJ got on McNeal.

It's actually an inside out dribble which makes it even more amazing. I still mention it to AJ just about every summer when I run into him. He always cracks a smile and goes that's why I had to point at him

Ben Gordon against Alabama in the 2nd round of the 2004 tourney - 36 pts, 2 rbs, 2 asts, 2 stls

Rashad wasn't bad either in this game - 28 pts, 7 rbs, 2 asts

Their 3 pt shooting wasn't too shabby either.

That Donyell game came first to my mind. Dominant. That guy never missed a free throw, did he? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No doubt Caron against MD, carried the team on his back and almost singlehandedly lead them to a FF
