For me Geno has 7 players who can be trusted to play against all types of teams. I think Ziebell does not match up well against good "fast" teams particularly on defense. She averaged 7.6 minutes against such teams. She is not among the fastest and quickest on UCONN's team. She will be needed for her three point shot when Fudd et al's three pointers goes south. Heckel seemed to have a similar issue but I think her issue was she went too fast, too out of control. Since the Iowa game she seems to have got the message to play in control thus 20 minutes in the Notre Dame game. El Alfy seemed to be making strides before her concussion. I still believe she will be needed for the NCAA tourney games.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Blanca fan. She has the potential to be the next UConn Superstar. However, in a tied game with just a few minutes remaining Blanca does not have my 100% trust at this point in her development. Everyone is capable of doing dumb things, but Blanca seems to do more.

I firmly believe that if Jana had been available, she would have gone in instead of Serah for that spicy moment at the end of the game. Something tells me that Jana would be singularly effective at making the point that Geno seemed to want made.

Blanca is a fun player to watch. Her timing on steals, ability to get to the hoop for layups is amazing. IMO, her inconsistency may result from the opposite of Wooden's "be quick but don't hurry." Although she has the experience of playing in a pro league, unlike any current Husky, she also hasn't been in a structured environment like most of the other players. With the exception of the other freshmen (who are still learning), the rest of the current roster has been in either this or another program for at least one year. The way other programs may teach and train their players is not exactly the same as UConn, however it is structure.

Blanca may have also been caught up in the pregame hype, whereas the more experienced players know how to handle it. Now that she's been in a big game matchup, the learning lessons will be used, and the upperclassmen will help. Also thinking that since she's averaging 19 mins per game, perhaps she's trying to cram too much into that time. The game will slow down for her, and when it does, she'll be a bigger force than now.
