Hey DC,
What's with the nasty attitude that you've directed toward ett? Do you guys have a history that might e best left in the past? I don't see ett's "ego" "wagging" anything....

At your best you are a terrific champion of these young players... at your worst you come off as a lecturing bully who is unwilling to accept that others may see things differently. I really enjoy & fully support the best of DC...

Your Ol' Pal Boo
not an attitude... just an observation.

he continues to 'try to convince" people that Baylor is this, BG is that etc. We all know that. He may have agenda with a few folks and is using the Boneyard as his platform and at the same time flooding this "UConn" board with Baylor rah rah.

Cam, TriDuke, Cardfan dont go overboard about their teams like he does... geesh as I said "I love Baylor, OSyms, BG, KMulkey, Sophia Young and DUNKING", Baylor is the favored but no need to say "for who who dont think blah blah blah" on a UConn board. Who is he talking about?

sorry if I offended anyone but I had to post my thoughts.

anyone else would be called a troll doing a drive-by and would have been sent on their way with "Thanks For You Interest In UCONN BASKETBALL.

yeah he has some solid post and is a friendly poster but the "for those who dont think..." just was a bit much.

I'm one of the crazy ones too. I think Tenn has a chance. Not a big chance, but they are big and athletic, and strange things happen in basketball. There is a lot of pressure in regional finals and also from carrying a long winning streak.

One difference between Tennessee and Baylor is that B. has Griner and T. does not. That difference is the game-changer.

Baylor by a dozen, maybe even more if Tennessee clears its bench when the issue is beyond doubt.

Im with you 3rdbass... they may be "peaking" at the right time. They already exceeded a lot of people's expectations

Having lost in this game last year, I expect Baylor to be extra focused. And TN has its own pressure issues to deal with -- last chance for this class to make a F4, as well as the Summitt issues.

Also I kinda think this year's Baylor team is on a mission. I still believe it's their title to lose.

So Johnson is going to take on the entire Baylor front line herself?

I assume Glory & Baugh will get decent minutes together, so Baugh is not really a backup for her. And saying that Burdick and Harrison can come off the bench is almost equivalent to saying UConn has Michala Johnson to bring off the bench to guard BG. Griner will absolutely destroy any of those.
i realize you said "almost equivalent" when discussing Burdick and Harrison coming off the bench equating them to Johnson, but they are both a very large step ahead of Michala. i'd put them both on par Brianna Banks - not in the type of game they play, but in that they shouldn't see see much PT in a close game, but certainly could be used in a rotation when the team is up by 15 or so.

gotta disagree just a tad there... :) wasn't tennessee picked #2 preseason? or at the lowest, #3? they had 8 losses but were made a 2 seed. IMHO it's still debatable whether they should have been a 3, but that's just me. so at this point, they have met expectations, and to be honest, they've NOT done it in anything relating to a dominating fashion. no offense to Kansas, but they beat them by 11. perhaps Kansas was better than an 11 seed, but UCONN beat K State by 50 or something. and they were an 8 seed.

E they are on to the Elite 8... not another Ball State debacle, they got past the Rd of 32 and the Sweet 16.
As a few of us recently stated about UConn's wins... at this time its "win and advance" even if its by one point.

Will they beat Baylor, personally I hope not BUT they have the height and "players" to compete. Its going to be interest... make sure your popcorn is buttered :)

Yes.

But neither is going to pose any threat to Griner.

To clarify, at least my view: I expect Baylor to win, perhaps by 15+. But I think Tennessee has a chance. They are familiar with Baylor, and the LVs are also on a mission. If Baylor plays their A game, the LVs have no chance. Stranger things have happened than a Tennessee upset of a very, very good team.

I think Tennessee has a chance Monday night, but then again I expected GaTech to give Baylor a game for 30 minutes....... so the Lady Vols probably will get beat by 70

is Duke looking great or is St johns lookin bad

If we're not in it come Monday, I won't give a flying fig who is.

One game at a time!

I'd like to see anybody beat ND, the Bonnies or later MD.
UCONN by 30.
Slight preference to Gonzaga over KY only to continue the Cinderella story.

Tennessee has a chance. They have so much talent and it does depend on which team shows up. But I think that UT has to come out fast. Oddly enough, I think the pressure to get to a FF and to get Pat there again may be higher than the pressure on Baylor to get there.

I don't see why there is so much ballyhoo about dunking. All that needs be done is to be able to reach the basket then drop the ball in. When you're 6' 8" it's easy to do. I do that with the waste basket every day, but I get no kudos for that.

LOL. But, why are you not recycling? Maybe that's why you don't make the ESPN top 10 plays of the day.

I don't see ett's "ego" "wagging" anything.... Of course, my eyes aren't what they used to be... Even though I fought it as hard as I could, age has mellowed me.... Fighting doesn't hold the same fascination it once held....

Thanks, Boo. But I learned how the "ignore" button works. And maybe I need to tone it down in my praise of Griner. Possibly best reserved for the Baylor board.

ett,

No thanks needed here, but I do want to say to you that I do admire people that have the maturity and character to spend a little time in self reflection. It's always good to find a person willing to take an honest look at a position they believe to be fair & true. As is the case here, many times it's not the belief that needs changing, it's just an issue of timing and environment.

Considering these things is often difficult in the face of criticism becuase we all have a tendency to get our backs up and proclivity for digging in for the upcoming dust up. It's nice to see that you've thought about the "praise of Griner" issue. Maturity and character... That's the ticket.... Now, if I could only practice what I preach....

This is a "We've got Britney and you don't" kind of year. Tenn has no chance.

Eric, I have to agree about the Kansas game. There is no way that KU should have been that close to Tennessee at this point in the year. However, the UT game still scares me. All that hype with Pat and the seniors never getting to a FF sue add motivation, but their situation puts a ton of pressure on those players.

Personally, I'd like to see Tennessee beat Baylor. Honestly, I feel bad for their (LV) seniors - it's hard to be in a storied program like theirs and not come close to the lofty expectations placed on them. That and having to deal with the uncertainty of Pat's health this year - I just think it would be a nice way for them to end their careers. Plus, I would really, really like to see us play them again. And win against them again!

well i think every fan of teams who are 1 seeds are nervous. after all, it's to get to the final 4. and the 2 seeds were 2 seeds for a reason - they are good teams. having said that...

i'd feel pretty confident if i were Baylor. it's not just the Kansas game. go back and look at tennessee's run thru the SEC tourney. they didn't exactly blow anyone out. and even the first few rounds of the NCAA's, comparing their games vs. the other 1 and 2 seeds, theirs were on the lesser of the impressive side. it's no secret that i'm not a fan of tennessee, but even an objective observer has to agree that for all their talent, they've not really dominated like you'd expect of a team that starts 3 seniors, and has a boatload of HS AA's on the roster. they've underachieved for years and have been schizophrenic this year in their consistency.

i don't think any of the games will be easy, but i think Baylor will be up for the task. tennessee just has no area where they are stronger than Baylor.

Is there more pressure on Baylor given the high expectations? Or is there more pressure on TN to get the F4 for Pat and Sr. class? As Milford and others said, the Vols have the talent, but whether they can execute and play as a team is the question they've asked themselves all year. I hope it is an entertaining game and not a blow-out.
