It appears to be a 3 woman race with Hannah Hidalgo, Juju Watkins and Lauren Betts as clear standouts this season. Who would you pick out of the 3?

.-.
All three are solid and worthy of the honor but I am picking Juju. She is just a notch or two above the other two young ladies.

Wow 18 votes and still u nan I mous
I thought it'd be a lot more split. Maybe a little recency bias with how well Juju is finishing the regular season but maybe not considering she's 18/18 on a blind vote.

I’m guilty of recency bias but legitimately so. In the 2 big games she came up huge. While ND lost 2 upsets.

I voted for Juju. Hidalgo had a disastrous final month of the season. And Notre dame lost two games they should not have lost.
I agree that they shouldn't have lost to Florida State at home, but did you forget that NC State was undefeated at home and needed 2OT periods to beat the Irish?

It’s tough to ignore recency bias. Juju was incredible in the two wins over UCLA. But I voted for HH. Yes, she’s been off the past few games, but looking at the entire season, she’s been fantastic. Offense and defense both off the charts. Plus Juju isn’t particularly efficient and turns the ball over too much. If I look at them as future pros (I know that wasn’t the question), I take Juju over Hannah every day.
I also think Paige gets way underrated - not even being a choice on this poll. Her efficiency and shot making are just incredible. I’d pick her over Betts as a choice in a 3 person poll.

.-.
Juju is a solid player and she isn't afraid of the situation which makes her play big in big games. Since she plays on a team where she can shoot as many times as she needs to for the points she has the advantage. HH is a very good player and has the added ability to really play some defense so she is also very deserving. Betts to me is a slow, tall player and I think she is very easy to neutralize by the really good teams so I would say of the three she is number three.

If I could have any player in the country for the next month though that player would be Paige. I do think she is the best player in college I just don't think individual awards can go to her based on the level of talent on her team. I might take Sarah second even. She is becoming a very difficult player to defend and she is just beginning.

Have you watched JuJu? She plays really good defense as well. Doesn't rack up steals like Hidalgo, although she gets those. She has an added dimension of being a legit shot blocker, which HH doesn't share due to her stature.

Good list, AzziBraids, but gotta ask: you're not a Latson fan?

Honestly either her or Hidalgo (or Betts) could be named DPOY nationally and no one would blink twice. They’re all fantastic defenders.

Count me as another who thinks Latson deserves to be mentioned in this conversation. I'm not saying she deserves to win over JuJu but she often gets overlooked simply because she is at FSU and not at a ND or UConn or some other traditional power.

Just look at these stats:
25.4 PPG
46% FG
36% 3FG
82%FT
4.5 Reb
4.7 Ast
2.2 Steals

Highest usage rate in the nation at 38.1, leads the nation in scoring, led the ACC in offensive box/plus/minus, led the ACC in player efficiency rating (3rd in the nation in this category behind Sarah Strong and Paige), is responsible for the 3rd most points produced in the nation and the 2nd most produced per game.

She had a dud of a game to close out the season vs Duke and that certainly hurts her chances for conference player of the year. But some of the other players being mentioned for various awards have also dropped in some stinkers.

I like her I just wouldn't take anyone I listed off to add her but I think she is deserving - she'd be my 11th for sure
