Reading all week about the Louisville v. KY in state rivalry game really brings home the fact that we are going to be in desperate need of a new Rivalry once Cuse and Pitt leave the BE . We already lost BC, a natural "neighboring" rivalry. Quinnipiac and Fairfield are never going to rise to a legitimate in state rivalry. I'm really thinking we need St. John's to get their program back in order.

Careful what you wish for... we could get those Providence psychos back here spewing BS.

I, for one, still have a great distaste for Georgetown

All I know is that Pitt and Cuse were the two teams I always wanted UConn to beat the most.

Let's just hope UConn can resume the rivalry in the ACC sooner than later.

Sure, I have healthy dislike for Nova, PC, Gtown, ND, St. Johns, and more recently Louisville, but I just don't dislike these teams as much as the other two.

Why can't we have home and homes with both schools, it would help our OOC schedule.

we will play cuse in the ooc until we join them 1 day...

The first thing i do when the Uconn schedule comes out is look to see when the Syracuse and Pitt games are. I would love to see us playing them in ooc games. These games are always wars and the battles during the big east tournament were epic. Im going to miss watching those. Hopefully Georgetown, Villanova, and St Johns can step it up but i would have to say that Louisville is going to be "The Big Game" every year once the other two leave...that is if they even stick around

Ville is about the best "love to hate" team left, maybe GT. PC is too irrelevant on a national stage although they do weem to own us!

Problem with Ville is that they love us for how we handle their real rival. Maybe they are a rival for competitive reasons but not much more. Providence is not a bad choice as they seem to have our number, and logistically it makes sense. Its just that overall like you said they have no recent success.

I guess its time to find a replacement(s).

It'd be great if Rutgers could build back it's teams, they are the best natural rival left - bball, wbball, and football.

We're not playing Pitt & Syracuse out of conference unless it is something flukey happening...both in the same tourney for example...We will continue to play a similar schedule with a home-home series with a team from the Big or ACC but aren't loading up on ACC schools. Just not happening.

I agree with Pitt and Cuse. I don't like PC, but after that I don't really dislike the other conference foes, but that can change from season to season. It depends on their fans on the boards.

there is a difference between playing a meaningful game and playing a rival. When you play a rival, it doesn't matter if both teams are 1 and 2 or 13 and 14 in the conference. the game is big because it means bragging rights are on the line. Given the current BE line-up, I don't see us having a rival right now in BB.
Simple test:
Uconn plays BC, PC or Rutgers this year. Which game do you not only tune into, but get excited about as if you had a vested interest in the outcome? PC? not really. Rutgers? no. BC. Yes. Because beating BC makes everything right in the world. Even if BC sucks, beating them into submission would be awesome. And they feel the same way given how many troll the BY.
I like playing UofL, Syracuse, and most of the time Pitt because they are typically solid teams and the games have national implications. But losing to any of those programs wouldn't be the personal loss that losing to BC would be. And given all the off-field crap that has gone on between Uconn and BC only fuels that rivalry.

Louisville would probably be the next to go. UConn and Rutgers are also next in line to go. Our time in the Big East has been well worth it. Look how far we have come.
