In another thread I mentioned that I thought that Gabby, Napheesa and Nat are probably three of the top five nonstarters in WCBB. And that Saniya was probably in the top ten.

I’m actually pretty confident on both of those points. But this got me curious as to who else would be on the list. I’m not sure which Mabrey is starting these days but whichever one isn’t should be on the list. If it’s Mabrey2 I’d argue she should be at the top of the list. But who else? Inquiring minds want to know.

Kadijiah Cave from Baylor was the Big 12 6th Woman of the Year last year and is Baylor's most skilled post player at this point. She would be on my "6th Player" team. She is averaging 8.1 points and a team best 6.4 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game. On a 30 minute per game average she would be averaging a double-double.

Brene Moseley will probably win 6th player of the year for the Big 10. She 's in the top 10 in several statistical categories for the Big 10. Tierney Pfirman is also having a very good season for Maryland. Their competition will come from Shayla Cooper of Ohio State.

Probably one of the most impressive sharpshooters playing in WCBB. She's a freshman, right?
Yes Freshmen and Foreign from Latvia I believe which is why she probably flew under many US college recruiting radars.

I don't presume to know all the players doing a great job off the bench for their teams. Here is information on Ariel Atkins, Texas.
Atkins missed most of the non-conference season recovering from off-season surgery. In 10 games, averaging 17 minutes a game, Ariel’s stats: 9.5 pts a game; .566 FG% (over 60% in the 8 conference games); .381% from 3 point range (.438 in conference games); .844 FT% (27 of 32); and 2.8 rebounds a game. She has a total of 3 blocks and 7 steals. She works hard on defense also. She does have more turnovers than assists; that is a problem she shares with her team as a whole.

I've always liked Ariel Atkins game. Texas have a few good players coming of the bench this season.

I will give you one from out west. Courtney Jaco who plays for USC. She is a junior and averages 8.5ppg. She mostly shoots the 3 pointer but on her 2 point shots, mostly lay ups, she is shooting 17 for 24. She averages 43% overall. She is just over 2:1 on A/TO ratio(36 to 17), and has 32 steals. I like her mostly because she hounds the opponent on defense. She will do anything to make her team better.

Watch tonight Tenn vs Kentucky game, I would say Tenn's Te'a Cooper.

Her shooting numbers are now up(!) to 33.7 FG% and 26.4 3FG%

She has been good the last two games but she was consistently poor before that.

Maryland's Brene Moseley was also the first to pop into my head. 13.2 ppg, 6.4 apg, 54.4FG%, 40% 3FG%. Zero starts. Actually quite bizarre that she doesn't start.

If only 6 starts out of 19 games counts as a 6th woman, Shakayla Thomas (Florida State) is right up there with Moseley. Team-high 17.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 58.3FG%.

I'll mention Ohio State's Shayla Cooper, just for the heck of it, even though she's started 8 of 18 games, and it seems the reason she's now coming off the bench has a story behind it. 13.4 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 52.3FG%.

One who definitely deserves mentioning, and would be easy to overlook, is West Virginia's RS-soph, Teana Muldrow. 6'1" forward from New Jersey. 18 games, zero starts, yet contributing 11.0 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 49.0FG%, 35.3%3FG%.
