Anyone know what's up with the dual national championship signs at exit 68? In past years, the signs were up the next day after the win. Perplexing.

In the past, the signs were up every year -- it seemed -- before the teams actually returned to campus. In fact, haven't teams stopped the bus on the way home to take a photo in front of the newly erected sign. That would have been a nice touch for the visiting recruits this weekend.

I thought I glimpsed something at one of the exits tow weekends ago -- again, it was a glimpse. Seemed to have two listings, and I wondered where field hockey was....

They had updated the sign on Exit 68 2011 men's championship by the time I went to campus for the day-after rally. Not seeing the same thing happening this year. Come on Nutmeggers- let's show some state pride and some efficiency!

I'd also love to see a new sign with every single championship enumerated, as in 1995, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014 national champions Women's Basketball and 1999, 2004, 2011, 2014 national champions Men's Basketball. How impressive would that be?

I noticed that today myself, nothing changed as of 4:00pm

I'm not quite sure why the taxpayers of the state are supposed to pay for such a sign. I'm thinking there just might be higher priority places to spend money. Last I checked, there is NOTHING that prevents any of us from funding such a sign out of our own pockets. It's always nice to spend other people's money.

You're kidding, right?

Seeing as what we are talking about is a official CT road sign, I believe we would have to dip into our boneyard legal fund if one of our members were caught out there tampering with signage!

Somebody must have hacked your BoneYard account...no way you would post that, right? :)

Did I stumble into the Hartford Courant reader letters by mistake? I thought I was on the Boneyard. :p

After having driven over a pot-hole and punctured a tire this morning, I am not in a mood to have a sign put up at the expense of fixing holes in the road. Take your pick - which would YOU rather spend money on?
As I said before - it's always nice to spend other peoples money.

You are not serious ??? There are electronic traffic signs on every major road in the state. At the very least, with a few keystrokes they could all be lit up congratulating the team - at NO cost to anyone.
As far as the cost for a permanent sign goes - I don't think its a budget buster.

Putting it in perspective, considering how much revenue has been generated by these two wonderful teams for the State and the University it's a pretty small financial outlay to brag about the only program to make history TWICE.

See..that's the problem. You are worried about signs instead watching the road. :)

I thought the University helped underwrite the signs -- it is advertising.

BTW - did anyone mention that UConn was advertising itself on billboards in Nashville?
