I only care about this list because of the time of year.....recruiting season. Its a stupid list but ESPN has clout and for any coach that finishes at the top of the list its a recruiting tool. People love lists and recruits may be swayed by the third party assessment.

ESPN seems to be putting a lot of emphasis on the 2013-2014 season. Jay Wright is in at #19 after the following seasons:

2010-2011: 21-12 (9 seed losing to 8 seed George Mason in first round)
2011-2012: 13-19
2012-2013: 20-14 (9 seed losing to 8 seed UNC in first round)
2013-2014: 29-5 (1 seed losing to 7 seed UConn in second round)

I think if 2013-2014 is a big factor in deciding these rankings, Kevin Ollie is in the top 10, maybe even the top 5.

No matter where KO lands in this ranking, he's still going to be our #1 coach in America. Who cares what ESPN arbitrarily chooses in the end.

The point is, recruits could care.. after all, they all get rankings from ESPN,.. which they follow. Dont we all check the recruit rankings all the time. Don't you think a recruit would consider the top coaches list.

UCONN does not get the pick of the litter ever; as was pointed out many moons ago no matter how many natl titles or guys put in nba. The recruits that follow the lists that you speak of are the ones who like to look at themselves in the mirror whenever they are near one (song: he so vain) {narcissism}// These recruits are the ones who believe the hype machine and want blue blood showcasing without the blue collar work ethic and all the effort and sweat of team first. UCONN coaching has proven a zillion times over the last approx. 30 years to have the savvy to look at character profiles together with hoop skills to determine recruiting priorities. Review the final achievements of burger list fellas and the teams who feast on burger recruits. UCONN is the truth & the answer.
