I'm Italian too, and I think most of the Italian joints on Atwells are schlocky Italian-American joints. Pane e Vino's good. I had a good meal at Siena a while back.

My go to since the 90s has been Al Forno. Bacaro near Brown was pretty good. If you want something different North, Birch, and Nick's on Broadway are all great.
