I just hope people stop clamoring for Ollie to try to get him a bunch of shots every game. He is what he is at this point; he takes the open 3 and not much else. His pump fake/midrange game has gotten better and better, so if he's not shooting 3s then this is what he needs to be doing.

You can probably count the contested shots he's taken this year on two hands. There's a reason no one really talks about him the same way they talk about guys like wragge or even cooney. He doesn't really hunt his shot - if he has a wide open look with his feet set he'll take it. Otherwise, he won't.
He has rarely taken shots with some pressure in his 4 years here. He will usually pass the ball unless he is set and wide open. This probably has a lot to do why Ollie doesn't run more plays off screens for him and his teammates are reluctant to pass him the ball unless he is wide open. He is one of the best 3 point shooters we have had at UConn when he is open and set. He would probably be good with some pressure but for some reason he doesn't take those shots very often.

He and Kromah are both struggling a little as of late with their shot although Giffey less. I still want him shooting the ball more……...

As a floor spacer ( over 70% true shooting ) , he's still making our offense run very well. People who say our guards are "reluctant" to pass to him seem to be sticking to that narrative. Ollie yells out 5 in transition, he directs the guy pushing the ball up to find Giffey for a transition three...
Out of context, but just looked at cuses team numbers... Cooney is the only guy who can shoot. And since when did cj fairs year turn to crap...?

Never bought the opinion that team mates were deliberately avoiding NG because there was a chemistry problem. NG was tentative on offense. We observed it and so did his team mates.

That has changed. He's a much more assertive player on offense. He still is reluctant to create relative to where I think he should be, but he has made considerable progress. The up fake and drive has been on the increase. The more he does it successfully the more opposing teams will have to play him differently which should give him more spacing to take and make threes.

This team is still developing which is scary in a good way. I give kudos to KO because he's not doing what many coaches do with shortening the bench and running only the most successful plays (like a certain nose picker). Of course he has the luxury of having a floor captain who can run things the way KO wants and right the ship and take charge if necessary.

Giffey is great. He shoots wide-open 3s with great accuracy. He's developed a fake followed by an open shot, he has crashed the boards for tip-ins and he drives to the hoop. Good energy. Great

But some Giffey advocates seem to have shifted their narrative from his teammates won't pass to him to, now, his teammates pass badly to him. Or he is being told not to shoot. Or he is brilliant to not take a fairly open 3 because it is early in the clock.

Can't he just be what he has been over his career at UCONN? A very good player that isn't very aggressive on offense. Not a victim to his teammates, coach or the shot clock.

Mostly. He was open a bunch of times but received bad passes. And then towards the end of the game, he passed up some wide-open looks because they were killing clock. But he did turn down a couple of open shots to put the ball on the floor. I'm happy to see him put the ball on the floor, but not if the 3 is wide open. I agree with others that he's probably a little shy because he's been in a cold spell, but shooters gotta shoot!
I get that he may not always be in perfect position to launch, and like DD he needs to get better at being ready and not bobbling the ball... but he had at least 3 chances where no one was within 5' of him. His shots have been dead-on, but he is hitting the back rim and they are coming right back to him. Just move back a few inches Niels! Show your NBA range!
