When Jay Bilas talks the NCAA listens

Once again Emmert "didn't know". It's absolutely amazing that the top guy always seems to know so little about what is going on in his organization. They really do seem to think we were born yesterday.

Reading the article, it seems clear to me that the push among all of the media and interested powers is to have college athletes become professionals at their sport. It's the logic behind every assumption and every question. Why aren't the athletes being paid? That's the bottom line.

Once that happens, there is no point to having college sports. They will be minor leagues.

Has there been a bigger NCAA joke in recent memory than Mark Emmert? He could very well preside over the end of the NCAA as we know it. Certainly the beginning of the end (it could take a looooong time).

I have to admit this is the one dukie which have a huge amount of respect for. He's one of the smartest guys involved in basketball right now, and when he talks, everybody should listen. The dude knows what he's saying, period. Insanely high basketball IQ.

He IS the smartest basketball analyst right now. Not exactly saying much, I grant you, but Jay's obviously on top of the pile. He's a bit hard on Duke (overcompensation), but I can't complain about that.

has anyone tweeted this guy yet? maybe he could help us
He did his best for UConn regarding the APR issue. He felt and reported it was an absolute travesty. The problem is there was too much inertia against him to help UConn. The situation with Facey is more complex. It boils down to the general public's concern with non American students taking away scholarships from Americans. I'm sure this is certainly the case for public institutions. So the NCAA can be ridiculed for the message they are sending about educated students from the British system being penalized, but that most likely will not overcome the American publics resentment concerning their taxes supporting non tax paying players.

If the foreign players can outcompete the US born players in the classroom and on the court, then tough cookies imo. Give us an equivalent player/student to facey, and I won't complain.

Bilas has no Bias. He is the best basketball analyst out there.

Then rally the general public to agree with you on this issue. Have them put the pressure on the NCAA to change things. I got nowhere with the apr issue. Didn't raise much of a pulse with the retroactive ruling. Not a hot button topic for most people.:(

Just below this thread was a link to a thread about the North Campus. I've been up for 21 hours, getting too tired to see straight and I misread the title of this thread as "When Jay North Talks, the NCAA Listens". I guess old Dennis the Menace could don't any worse than the current powers that be.
