They use the word "ball" too much, sometimes twice in the same sentence. They should try to vary things a bit by using "orb" or "spheroid" or "the rock" or "pumpkin" or "walnut" or "bauble" or "globe" or "thing that goes through the rim sometimes" or "family jewel" or ........... eh, maybe that's more than enough.

Any announcer who uses the expression "score the ball" should be publicly flogged. What else are you going to use to score - a water bottle? Another personal favorite is when one announcer asks the other: "What does Louisville have to do to win this game?" Answer: "The are going to have to put the ball in the hoop." The only way to make that worse of course is : "They have to score the ball."
