My first viewing of spectacularly colorful bb shoes was at the game the other day between Princeton and Kansas State. The Princeton players wore the absolutely brightest and attention-commanding orange shoes I ever say.

Baylor had similar bright green shoes (on TV). Then Creighton (again, TV viewing). The cameras above the stands captured what looked like drab OD (olive drab for civilias) shoes, but the same footwear came up extremelly bright blue when filmed by cameras on the court.

There may have been others on the feet of players on other teams, but it seems like we are now in a new sartorial trend, clearly the brainstorm of someone at Nike or Adidas. Perhaps they are putting those gruesome platinum uniforms in mothballs and focusing on limiting their fashion statement to distribution of bright and shiny bb shoes.

UGH!

Princeton's shoes, for those that didn't see them. They were a LOT brighter in person.

BTW, #24 in the second picture is Niveen Rasheed, the Princeton star. She's a pretty darn good player.

They are ugly!

FWIW: Delaware's shoes were the color of bright blue hens.

I think bright neon colors are in this year. Witness the Baylor mens' uniforms.

Naveen is a terrific player, unfortunately, she tried to win the game by herself

Nike has given a number of teams "rewards" like the shoes in Princeton's case.

The interesting thing to me about Baylor, is if you notice, those Highlighter yellow men uniforms are made by Adidas, while the women's team wears Nike (hence those ugly platinum elites).

I don't think I've ever seen a program, at least a big one, where the two teams had two different shoe companies.

Incidentally, #34 in the second picture I posted above is Brandy Brown, the hero for K-State from Saturday. She's got a great basketball build so Stef will need to be physical tonight. K-State pretty much ran the offense through her against Princeton.

Nan, I was stunned when I read Brown averaged just over 5 ppg this year. That right handed sweeping hook while crossing the lane would be worth at least that in a half I would think

A quick visit to the Nike running store in Westport yesterday showed LOTS of those bright colors. Think they're trying to start a new fashion trend and seel more shoes.

I LOVE the brightly colored shoes, especially Princeton's. In fact, I would like them even brighter!

She's got some great skills, although she seemed raw offensively at times. I was also stunned when I saw her stats; she seemed like a dominant player on Saturday.

If she starts to go off again tonight, the Huskies would do well to foul her. She shoots 49% from the FT line.

Maybe this will help the zebras call "walking" fouls more accurately?

The main point about a BB shoe is that it allow the freedom of movement and have the proper dimensions so that it does not increase ACL injuries. If you can get a good shoe that is also a neon dream, all the better, but the snazzy look should never take precedence over how it works. The same fashion statement issue has been a problem for runners, as a lot of shoes are chosen for the bright colors but have come with horrid platform construction that lead to bad hip, backs, knees, etc.

I don't mind the Princeton shoe color, as it is one of their team colors to begin with. Unlike UConn playing in Ohio State colors (and looking just like Ohio State doing so.)

As Rocky notes, Princeton's colors are bright naturally. Maybe the shoes were slightly brighter than normal.

I liked the PV purple shoes.
