Quite frankly, being a Celtic fan, I know what Jim is thinking. There were 3 strolls down the lane by MU in the last couple minutes of the game and not one guy manned up and attempted to take anyone out. Against UL it was the same deal.

It makes be remember fondly McHale taking Kurt Rambis out and instituting the no lay-up rule against the Lakers.

When the player waltzed down the lane to get a rebound and put the ball in, I was thinking, nobody touched him or tried to knock him down? I guess if they're too weak to box out, there's no energy for rough stuff.

I remember that play. I remember thinking 2 things.

1. He should have been tossed and banned for the season. It was dirty, lazy, classless, dangerous, and that kind of play should have no place in any sport.
2. If I was Rambis, I would have taken McHale out on the next available play with the intention of ending his career with a multiple ligament tears to his knee. And I would have done it, and slept like a contented newborn. (They send one of yours to the hospital, you send one of theirs to the morgue).

Turns out Rambis was too nice.

That type of play was not uncommon back then. A lot of players/coaches refused to allow an uncontested layup. Things changed when they institued the flagrant foul rule. Those were the good old days. The world is getting soft.

There's a significant difference between a hard foul and a flagrant foul. Old Red would be rolling over in his grave if he saw those uncontested layups. There's just no excuse for it.

Since I'm old it's the Loscutoff rule, saw him flatten the late Rudy LaRusso on a similar play.

Someone would turn that into an assault charge these days. Different era. I sure wish Olander would designate himself the hatchet man for this team. I mean, he fouls people anyway. Might as well make them count.

It is painful they watch guys go by while running it up......what do kids learn from their coaches when younger besides dunking anymore?? No pride in this team........

Didn't Blair just flip Thabeet a few years ago?
But according to the boneyard Blair was a dirty player!

Those same people would probably have a circle jerk every night if we had a player like Blair on this team.

Jeff threw a few elbows - and the dudes on the other team backed off - and that was 2009.

This team been subject to more phoney flops than I can remember. I remember Dave Cowens against Mike Newlin who phoney flopped and Dave got a charge. Next offensive possession Cowens ran the length of the court and ran Newlin over. He pointed down to Newlin and said "now that's a charge". Newlin did not attempt to take any more phoney flop charges against Cowens that I recall after that.

I remember that play. Cowens was one tough player. Loved watching him and Moses Malone battle under the boards. Cowens would use his rump to move Moses under the under the basket and take him out of the play and a couple of times saw him put Moses into the frst row of seats or into the camera men. JC should show the frontcourt tapes of how Cowens used his body to block out for reboundng. Basics AO and AD don't have.

I know I'm alone on this, but I don't care- nothing was more faux tough than Jeff Adrien's ridiculous elbow swinging.

Karl Malone used to always go up with his knees. If someone tried to take a charge, they would think twice. If someone wanted to flop, they were going to get hit, or fall down so far in advance it would be clear there was no foul.
