So many threads are so inane! Big 12 implosion, B1G invite, ACC what ifs! None of this is under Uconn's control. For immediate future Uconn's fate is in Bob Diaco's hands. 2015 football needs a respectable season. We'll know right off the bat if they can accomplish that. Uconn must beat Villanova and Army at home. Missouri on the road is not possible. A win against Navy would be frosting on the cake.
With all other sports Uconn is more than respectable. The BB programs obviously a huge plus. Show some life in the FB program and everything else will take care of itself. Can't go 0&4. That's the real doomsday scenarios for P5 consideration.

So basically you are saying that a 2 win season would be acceptable and a 3 win season will be spectacular. You may unfortunately be right.

UConn football could go undefeated for four years running and it wouldn't matter to the B1G. Most residents still wouldn't tune in and the impact on the NYC market would be negligible. The ACC might get suckered into adding UConn in that case because BC will still suck, but by 2020-1 odds are pretty good ESPN will have reneged on the ACC TV deal anyway.

Yes, I woke up on the wrong side of bed this morning.

Go back to bed.

I mean... yeah, but ... UConn's P5 consideration is going to be judged on a multi-year timescale, not 4 games.

I recognize that it's a multi-year issue. But we already have a multi year Record of futility. Three of the first four games are 'winnable'. An 0-4 start would be pretty hard to turn around and and start a multi-year string of success and turn around the perception of Uconn football.

So what's one more?

I'm willing to get passed on a P5 invite if our football team wins 4 straight national championships.

With all due respect, ask someone to place a pillow over you face.

Winning can't be understated. It's probably why Louisville is in the ACC and not us. If we had a a couple more average HCRE type years and went 8-5 instead of PP... and Lousiville had a few more Kragthorpe kinda years. Louisville would be hoping the B12 was forced to expand.

For everyone but the B1G winning matters.

Whatever position were in, winning can't hurt.

Just prior to that invite, UConn defeated Louisville in Louisville in football. Everyone was jokingly saying winner gets the invite. Unfortunately, that win didn't matter.
