With the announcement of Katie Lou, UConn is over the top. Now we wait on Asia Durr's decision. For the next 5 years its UConn and everybody else. Geno has distanced UConn so far apart from every other team it is not almost, but imo impossible to catch them. Mentally, talent wise and physically they have already set themselves apart from everybody else. They are at a level that is ridiculous. I mean think about it. How many NC's, POY, win streaks, and after last season untouchable. Opponents can not compete with UConn. It aint even close. Those factors leave no doubt that UConn is the preseason number 1 team for the next 5 years. Breannas senior season could be one of the greatest in WCBB history. The biggest question now is "What will Geno Do Next?"

Genos greatest recruiting advanage is not his NCs or win streaks its the players he has coached, and what they have done and what they've gone on to become. This is what the kids coming up want to be and they know Geno can get them there and they are willing to pay the price to do it . Geno realizes that the whole is greater then the sum of all the parts. Being able to utilize the team concept and not the individual talent is what the difference is.

Think about this. Desheilds Cooper and Durr. Where will they go if they dont come to UConn? It doesnt matter because of where UConn as a team is and everybody else is. UConn is number 1 for the next 5 years. Geno has set the bar so high that it doesnt matter how much talent any other team has, because its more then just having talent. Its playing as an unselfish team, its about chemistry continuity, and team work. Its about being confident, not having that confidence shakened when things get tuff, its about being mentally tuff and confident in your team. Being able to trust in your team mates and them trusting you.

The next 5 years at UConn will be alot of fun. I believe Natalie Butler will be the Rock. I also believe that UConn is in position to set more records. This season still has some question marks. Is Morgan Tuck 100% and if she isnt Kiah and Breanna must stay out of foul trouble. Next question is KML 100%. Next question how will the freshman adjust and who will step up. I expect Saniya replace the guard spot vacated by Bria. She knows the system, she can play defense, doesn't make mistakes and she can shoot. She will have to step up this year much like MoJeff did last season.

So we have some question marks this season. Just like last season. Our questions for the future have been answered with verbals. We have a 46 game win streak and that will grow. So what will Geno surprise us with next?

Yeah, but Durr would look terrible in punkin orange.

Imagine being down 15-2 at the 4minute timeout. You look over at the scorer's table and 5 fresh Huskies are set to check in. Coach K did this in the olympics. Mix and match, with the conditioning and dedication on 'D', it could get scary quick.

I have it on good authority that on June 1st Geno will announce his most stunning accomplishment to date. He has persuaded The Summitt to become a UCONN fan board!

After reading this post, I thought that it was a reasonable description of the present state of the UConn program. And then it struck me that it was written by Tonyc--- Mr. 120 something in a row, is now Mr. Master of Understatement!

Either we are in the Twilight Zone or UConn is so good that even the acknowledged, over-the-top Optimist of the Boneyard sounds measured.

What's next for Geno? I dunno, perhaps retirement? Tend to his restaurants? Play more golf? Buy a vineyard? There's really not much, if anything, left for him to do in the game - he's done it all successfully.

Pat Summit has brought her teams to 13 NC games. That is one record I'd like to see him break.

Yah, but her winning percentage in that last game is a wee bit shy of Geno's.

As I wrote elsewhere, it's time for all of us to get in touch with our inner Tonys.

UConn is so loaded, attracting so many top players who want to play for Geno its hard to put into words how good this team is. It is so over the top good its almost unexplainable. The scary thing if Durr comes they will get better and we're not even talking about 2016 players coming yet.

Well, I like your enthusiasm Tony. Next year I think is too soon for TN or SCar to beat us. They will have really good teams, but they are coming from S16 losses. They have to get to the FF first. And we have the triumvirate of KML, Stewart, Jefferson. Hard to beat a team with 2-3 AA's and one of them most probably the NLK winner.

Year after next though, if you put DeShields, Cooper and Durr on either TN or SCar, that would be a very talented team (on paper).
TN - Graves, Russell, Reynolds, Tucker, Nared, DeShields, Cooper, Durr
Or
SCar - Mitchell, Dozier, Coates, Wilson, White, Cuevas, DeShields, Cooper, Durr

However, you have Stewart and Jefferson as seniors. Along with a very good supporting cast. Tuck, Chong, Nurse, Williams, Butler, Edwards, Ekmark, Samuelson, Collier, Boykin. That's gonna be tough to beat.

Next couple of years, I think UCONN has as good a chance as anybody. Probably a better chance than anybody of picking up a NC. After that, we'll have to wait and see how the 2015 recruiting ends up, how the 2016 recruiting goes, AND (more importantly) how these players (14/15/16) really do in college.

What did Geno say about future commitment possibilities? Maybe four or five.....and that was before knowing Butler even wanted to transfer.

For Geno, he will smoke a cigar, drink a glass of wine by the side of the court while CD labors to coach!

For teams outside AAC, nobody is going to schedule a game with UConn. UConn's schedule will be a 16-game per season plus conference championship and NCAA championship.

Indeed a sad situation.

Clarification: a "punkin" orange uni would look bad on Durr not the other way around. Just hope she finds happiness where she goes. Yeah, I kinda hope it isn't orange land, but other than that I wouldn't mind if it is ND or SC. It would be nice if UConn's margin of victory would be less than 50 once-in-a-while.

If Durr, DeShields, and Cooper all go to either TN or SoCar those teams will still be on the outside looking in!
TN is coached by Holly Warlick so they're not going past sweet 16 (if they can reach the sweet 16)! TN is done!
SoCar has a much better coach, but no-one sells out for the full 40 minutes on offense & defense like UCONN does, and that's what makes the difference between programs!

Hardly. Dawn Staley is building a winner at SC. She knows that to get there means getting knocked on their butts a few times by the Huskies first. She'll do what it takes. Tara will always play UConn, she won't pout about KLS the way Pat did over Maya. Tara knows having the institutional clout of Stanford behind her means she'll win 90%+ of recruiting battles with anyone, including Geno (see Ogwumikes, older Samuelsons). After the comedy of errors and misunderstandings of the recent past, you can be sure it will be a point of principle for Muffet to schedule UConn, and other former OBE rivals are likely to be revived as OOC rivalries (Louisville, maybe Rutgers). Coaches of up and coming programs will want their players to see what it takes to be the best: Penn State, possibly Texas and UCLA. Then there are coaches that always just want to play the best, Duke comes immediately to mind.

Despite the horrid conference, the Huskies will continue to have a top-10 SOS.

What can he do? He was already at 10, and just dialed it up to 11, which is as high as it will go. Wait a minute, though...Geno is wiley. Mebbe he has found a way to crank it up to 12, or 13 or even higher. I would not put it past him.

Lol ..upon reading this I started to look up how many finals Geno has been to. Then I remembered, exactly as many as he has won!

I sure would like to see him take UCONN to at least 14.
