I think the "regressing" may be due to the brutal early season scheduling. That, plus it taking a while for the team to jell.
And while Baylor is a very good team this year (the best they have been since Griner I think) their position in 2017 is due to their brutally easy OOC and to what is not as competitive a Big12 conference as in the past. That last point is also part of what has moved UConn so far to the outer edge of the graph over the period of the devolution of the BE and the advent of the AAC.I think the "regressing" may be due to the brutal early season scheduling.
