So far, I think we are a better version of the 11-12 Mizzou squad. More depth, better inside. Hopefully we don't lose to the 15 seed after we get a 2 on selection Sunday.

What's the yard think?

I'd say that's fair but I think this team is deeper than that Mizzou team. They only played like 6 guys most nights, or am I thinking of a different Mizzou team?

I'd say Nova when they had Kyle Lowry but they had a pretty dominate inside guy and also weren't that deep. Also Daniels should theoretically add a dimension they didn't have.

When your 9th man was a starter all the previous year, you have a fairly deep team. A lot depends on what Daniels gives UConn.

I'll go 96-97 Zona

Napier - Bibby
Boatright - Terry
Calhoun - Dickerson
Daniels - Simon

That's pretty close, falls apart a bit after that because Bramlett was better than Nolan or Brimah and they had no Giffey.

I loved that Zona squad. Bibby and napier = deadly jump shooters

They remind me a bit of last year's Louisville team, but with much worse rebounding.

They don't have the same style, but the depth on the perimeter and "spurtability" are pretty similar. If this UConn team ever becomes competent on the glass, they'll instantly turn into an elite defensive team, too.

Two things stand out for me from the 1997 Tourny. First, I *really* wanted Arizona to beat Kentucky. Second, (11-18!) Fairfield gave UNC a real scare.

That's right, it wasn't until UNC started going to Serge Zwickker every play down the stretch that they pulled away. The guy had like a 8-inch height advantage. Fairfield's best showing ever, and it had nothing to do with that guy who coaches that other team that gets talked about a lot around here.
