Butler got picked up by the right team at the right time. The Colts are young, have a great pass rush to help out their secondary and most of all had ZERO expectations to win this year. So they could let their young players develop and it was a pretty amazing year for the whole team.

With the Pats they needed immediate secondary help and could not afford to deal with the growing pains of young secondary players. He had a nice rookie season, but expectations were high year two and there were a lot of young drafted DB's and verteran free agents on that team. He had some tough games and they were quick to give the vertran players a chance to sure up their weak link on defense. It didn't help that the Pats had zero pass rush which crippled their secondary and the breakout rookie year of McCourty overshadowed any future potential Butler had with them.

Darius struggled big time with the Pats year two. Simply put, he got abused by physical receivers like Braylon Edwards. After that his confidence seemed to wane and he gave way too much cushion and got destroyed on inside slants and the like. I'm a Pats fan, McCourty had a great year as a rookie CB but there is a reason he was moved to safety.

Darius is proving he was too talented to be a flop in the NFL but to say he struggled to fit in and contribute with the Pats is an understatement.

Yup, he got abused every which way in NE. Glad to see him come back from that.

Darius can do many things. But he is not a physically imposing player. He will always struggle with bigger WRs. Indy has him lining up against the slot on may plays, that is the best way to use him.

I agree Pal. Very gifted athlete though. Another UCONN two star btw.
