Email from Paul Nanos:

"My mistake. I corrected it on air. I watched the whole game. I must have not gotten enough sleep. Thanks for listening."

Translator: Thanks for listening = Up yours. That's why I wouldn't complain. BTW, I'd hate to be the guy that has to wipe off his mic at the end of the shift.

I'm a Red Sox fan and he is unabashedly anti-Red Sox (not just pro Yankee). Jason Page was better. Yes, he also was an unabashed Yankee fan, but at least he knew something about the game of baseball other than Sox-hate. Nanos most assuredly doesn't get much of a ratings boost by turning off 45% of his ratings base. Hence, Fox Sports Radio instead of the World Wide Leader.

Since ESPN went to 97.9, I very rarely go AM anymore (Also it doesn't come in very well in S.E. CT). I listen mostly to WEEI on 103.7 out of Providence. I used to listen to 98.5, The Sports Hub (Boston) and 106.7 (Washington D.C.) during football season, streamed on my phone. Unfortunately, I don't have unlimited data anymore, so that has happened less and less.
"Jason Page was better" I wouldn't go that far

The bar is not set terribly high. It's not like he's being compared to Erik Kuselias.

The worst is "The Bower Show," 97.9 at 3-6pm. Its basically like listening to 3 teenagers sit in their parents basement and talk sports. No inside info, no expertise whatsoever. Its a local show and they feature guests such as the San Diego Padres beat reporter. I have tweeted back and forth with them a few times. Bower himself isnt bad, but his underlings are like watchdogs and they get extremely peeved at the slightest bit of negativity directed at the show. Anyone else have an opinion on them?

I've mostly stopped listening. On signing day for this year's football recruiting class- arguably our best class ever- they talked non stop about Revis and the Jets. They could have filled a ton of time talking about each of the recruits. Nada.

Yeah I tune in elsewhere unless I know Amore or someone good is going to be on. Otherwise they are just annoying and dont seem very knowledgeable. Should we start a thread on this, haha?

WTF is wrong with people who haven't figured out that most of these talk shows are theatrical in nature and not meant to be objective about the topic.

If you know this and choose to listen to it for some entertainment value (I would love someone to explain how they are entertained by these guys) great. Or if you think the world needs a course change, don't tune in on them and help them become extinct by not validating them.

Holy cr*p for those who hate what these guys do and tune in to them. And holy cr*p to anyone thinking these guys are amenable to change. As people pointed out, this is their shtick. They know there are suckers out in the ether waiting to take the bait. Loving these guys when they attack things that support our hatred only bites us in the *ss because sooner or later they'll go after something we like. And unlike the sucker who takes the bait they have no emotional investment in what they spout. It's random to them. They reel in the sucker it and leave it to die on the shore.

The only way to let them die on the shore, instead of yourself, is to not give them any suckers to reel in. And BTW, I'm well aware that most people who are the suckers will not change because of this post. This is entertainment for those who already figured things out.

That place was full and ROCKING! I had people on top of me all game, it was great!

I got out of work late that day, which meant I could catch SportsTalk on 1080. Very rarely can I catch the Bower Show driving up route 2.

Paul Nanos is awful, Bower show is not much better and if it was, it wouldn't be saying much. They sound like a bunch of kids with little to no insight...they seem to spend a lot of time talking about fantasy leagues and bunch of young dudes talking about fantasy leagues is just about annoying as a bunch of teenage girls talking about whatever crappy reality shows they watch. Now that I think about it, it's probably the same level annoyance that my wife experiences when I watch the Huskies, but that's neither here nor the there. What makes it worse is that it cuts off the last hour of SVP and Russillo. I now use the ESPNRadio app instead of listening to some of the insufferable local sports talk.

Nanos sucks and Bower is just as bad. He doesn't even know UConn exists. In the past two weeks driving home from work I have heard him discuss the chemistry of the Minnesota Vikings, an in-depth season preview of the Colorado Rockies and Mike Trout's weight. Does he know his show is heard in Connecticut?

What's more is all of these topics were discussed on gamedays as far as I can remember.

I can't handle bower. The guy drives me up the wall. If he spent half the time covering relevant sports to ct as he did YouTube clips and stupid noises it would be worth listening too for a few seconds.

...at 6 AM, I spent 5 minutes listening to Paul Nanos destroy all the "non loyal" UCONN fans because there were "only 10K in the arena last night"..."What about the other 6K??" he said. Just hilarious. So I listened to him until I got to work at 6:25....no correction or apology yet... what a joke..
Did they use the practice facility money to expand Gampel? Solid work Paul.
