What is with the injjury to AE?

Morrow almost beat us last year, and if Aaliyah can't go, we may have a huge problem if our guards don't make shots. If she is not ready to play this game, she is not ready. We will win the BE even if we blow this game, but her health is more important for the long run.
A lot of her shots are coming from outside. She is shooting a number of three-point shots.

Certainly not from UCONN unless you want to count High School --which who knows could be a point. But for UCONN -stepping aside from any Paige debate-

Was the injury of Aubrey's back last year due to too many minutes?
Was the injury to Azzi as a freshman or sophomore due to too many minutes?
What about Dorka last year in NCAA and then this year with her thumb? The result of too many minutes?
Ducharme’s concussion? Too many minutes?
What about Lou? Her ankle/foot too many minutes because at UCONN vs Fairfield?

IMO some posters are just overall nervous of many things and just love to watch every player play more than anything else. If that's what you like - fine. As a result, there becomes an over-concern with playing too many minutes.

Might it be some have just grown tired of all the winning? It's either win a championship, or who cares if you don’t win it all because it's only the titles that matter so if you don’t win it all might as well play everyone? Or maybe some just like to complain?
Hoops, 3 things I've NEVER heard anyone complain about.........
1. Continuously acquiring more and more wealth
2. Having and maintaining excellent health
3. WINNING!!! I've NEVER heard a player, coach or team owner complain of their team winning too much, or winning too many championships. :D

Winning is contagious. The more you do it, the more you want to do it. Who doesn't like to win? I know a whole lot of players, coaches and owners that don't like to lose.

Remember what that noted philosopher Herman Edwards once said.............."Hello......you play to WIN THE GAME." ;)

i have to keep thinking that when you make starters play this many minutes, general fatigue leads to more injuries. :(
And playing in gyms with bleachers at the end lines causes all sorts of mayhem. Caroline keeps doing it at Creighton.

I'll never understand why chairs are allowed that close. There should be a big buffer around the court to avoid players running into furniture.
For the $$$$$ money. Seats on the floor are the most expensive except for luxury suites.

DePaul was a much better team last season. So far this season, even with Morrow in the lineup, DePaul has lost to the likes of Northern IL, Cleveland St and Towson with an overall record of 10-6.

Either way it will be a good experience for the post players to content with Morrow. Not sure who i think would have the better success after Aaliyah - Dorka (size) or Aubrey (speed/athleticism)...
And Aubrey wasn't available last season. At least this is an option this time.

Hopefully, it is nothing. But she got up grimacing a bit, from her Derek Jeter-like swan dive into the seats. I believe she continued playing until the half, but I would need to review the tape to be sure. In any case, after the half, CD sat her down and they iced the injured area. I saw her smiling with Azzi and Paige on the bench, so she must not be badly damaged. Certainly, they didn't need her against Butler. If there is any hint of lingering discomfort, I would sit her against DePaul as well. Seriously, who cares if we win or lose? I doubt that Caroline will be out of the concussion protocol by Sunday, so it shortens the bench a lot. unit would be fun to see what the team can do with Aubrey, Nika, Dorka, Lou and some combination of Patterson, Bettencourt and DeBerry.
Exactly

There was a perfectly good tray of nachos on one of the chairs that didn’t survive Aaliyah crashing into them….:(
I hate to even think it but this may all be Geno's fault. He's been known to challenge players to guard chairs. Chair possessing nachos isn't all that different from player possessing ball. Aaliyah reads and reacts, closes on the target, and next thing you know, the trainer's giving Aaliyah a foot rub...and possibly a mani/pedi.

It looked in the game like a bruise on the top of her foot but CD called it an ankle injury which she supposedly iced I believe at halftime. She didn't seem to be in any pain during the second half on the bench. Hopefully just a precaution. But then Azzzi came back and played after her "minor" knee injury so who really knows.
yes it looked more to me that her foot banged into the chair...........I'm hopeful that it was more of a bruise to the top of her foot than an ankle sprain..........hope to see her playing against Depaul.....

I don`t think there has ever been a perfectly good tray of nachos in Cincinnati. Aaliyah should be commended for preventing their further consumption.

Anyhow, if you have courtside seats, maybe you should be going to the restroom at halftime? Just a thought.

This year DePaul lost two of their best players from last year...Lexi Held (graduated) and Sonya Morris (transferred to Texas). The current players have a tendancy to stand around and watch Morrow shoot.

They defer to her. Here's the box score of their last game vs Marquette. Notice how many shots Morrow took versus everyone else. She took 27 shots and missed 17 of them (37% fgp). [Box score] Here's the box score of their recent game against Creighton on Dec 31. Note that DePaul lost BOTH games.

when you play so many extra minutes, your body is less able to withstand the extra strains, so general fatigue shows up in unnecessary injuries. i may not be a doctor, but i stayed in a holiday inn express last night. :)

Nika Muhl leads the team at just under 35 minutes a game, and is 73rd in the country. No one else on the team is even close to that. 32 minutes a game isn't even close to an unusual amount.
Wow, I thought she was playing more than 35. Or is that number skewed by the Princeton game when she got injured and left the game early?

If you watch when AE goes into the chairs that the court also is raised about 6 inches from the floor besides the court, this could have also helped in causing the injury. I severely sprained my ankle on one of those type of courts in high school, my left ankle has never been the same since and it ended my basketball playing.

So you're saying the chairs were at a lower elevation than the court? Ugh I wish we could just get a standard set of rules for all courts and make it so it's safe for the players. The worst are those raised courts where a player could go out of bounds and fall 5 feet.

The NBA's loss was the US Army's gain. :);)

What school has the moat around the court? Is that Vanderbilt? Seriously, the NCAA needs to set some standards on what is allowed around the courts. $$$$ doesn't come into play. I pretty sure the NCAA doesn't get any of the courtside seat revenue.

I understand the $$ principle. But it seems to me that if the seats are unsold and are therefore empty, it would be prudent to remove them and create more of a buffer. (But I’m also thinking - where did those nachos come from?)
