What kind of sense does that make? The best players command more minutes forcing the others into less minutes. Such is the cold hard fact of sport [and most everything else].
It would make no sense at all- That was my point. A point made in response to a post by cbraarj.

So under this theory (Stokes would have played more) who would have played less? Is it the two time POY (Stewie) or the player (Tuck) who once inserted into the starting line up brought the UCONN offense and defense to undefeated level of efficiency and should have been an AA?
Really it is Kiah fault she didn't play more? Maybe we should have asked Morgan and Stewie to be below average to get Kiah more time on the court!
Why was she taken out of starting line up.Not her defense because of her offense. If She had an offensive game that was consistent.I see them playing a bigger team more often. We are talking 5 to 10 minutes a game with Nurse losing some and Gabby and Chong losing time!Does it make sense for you to even put Stewie or Tuck in this conversation!I don't think so!

Q: Why was she taken out of starting line up?
A: Because UCONN had a better player in Morgan Tuck at that position.
Q: Does it make sense for you to even put Stewie or Tuck in this conversation?
A: Actually it does, because Kiah played the Center and Forward position same as Morgan & Stewie & Gabby. Taking minutes away from Nurse and Chong is not going to make more minutes available for Kiah, You are pulling my leg right, do you think Kiah is a guard?

MLK moves to the 2 with Stewie the 3 and Tuck the 4.Next are you going to say that I would have Kiah playing point Moriah in the post. The game against Stanford they played 5 on 4.No offense from Stokes and no defense from Chong!Morganin for Chong with big lineup.ESPN had MLK top 2 and top 3 in country in preview of the 2013-14 season!2 means sg and 3 means sf.

For this team's success over the next three years Gabby Williams needs to see more time, not less. She barely played against the better competition, but I believe Geno was piecemealing her progress and wants her to play a bigger role going forward. He reserves pretty special praise for her ability so I don't see her getting held back to -15 minutes. Nurse shouldn't lose minutes either. This team was best when it went with a non-center lineup and crushed teams with high pace, high efficiency offense. With an improving Williams and the additions of KLS and Collier they'll have even more weapons for that style.

"I have a dream", that one day people will learn the difference between MLK, KML, and KLS.:p:rolleyes:

LOL. Who is MLK? When did UCONN give her a scholarship.

Sadly, MLK was assassinated in 1968, and UConn didn't play its first game of organized women's basketball until 1974. Clearly a tragically missed opportunity.

But UConn plays important games on MLK Day. In a less important context, Geno and CD showed up in Storrs, and THEY had a dream.

Don't forget those who had a KLM playing for us too. ;)

I don't get no respect; only five votes for Gabby. Geno did say she was a game changer at least in one game.;)
I should have entitled the thread "Who" instead of "What".
Gabby played very well, especially for a frosh in a new position. But minutes have to come from somewhere. I suspect that hers will be down slightly given the talent we have coming in and Natalie being eligible to play.

She'll drive the coaches nuts. She is so anxious to be on the floor.

I LOVE Gabby's game and the excitement and energy she brought whenever she stepped on the court. I really hope you are wrong, but I'm really afraid you are right. :(

Regarding Natalie Butler, I'm actually encouraged by the fact she averaged an insane 36 minutes per game at Georgetown. I have to believe that as a freshman playing a demanding Big East schedule, Natalie's tank was running near empty as her minutes approached 25, 30 and beyond. Those are crazy playing time numbers for a young kid. It seems quite reasonable that the physical demands on Natalie's stamina and conditioning as a first year collegian had to wear the big kid down and reduce her productivity late in games. Simply too many minutes were asked of her, and I suspect the law of diminishing returns came into play. With fewer minutes, great conditioning, and a year older, Natalie won't be gassed after extended minutes on court, and she should be able to maintain a higher level of play. She has made several comments this past season that as a result of working out with the team she is now stronger and in better shape than ever before.

I don't think she'll put up 13 ppg and 13 rpg GTown numbers, but I do think with reduced playing time, an incredible array of talented teammates, and the best coaching in America that she will do that which is needed of her for the team to achieve its ultimate goal.
