If you play football for any significant amount of time, you "get your bell rung" frequently.
I know there are players who have ended up a bit scrambled in their later years, but that is a rare phenomenon.

I suspect, but can't prove, all the concussion protocol and the concussion "count" might be overdone.
Did someone let the lawyers out of their cages? Where is the data?

If I felt good, I would not let my playing days end because I had taken "n" number of hits.
(hmmmmm maybe that explains the incoherence of my post. :()

Carolyn's case might well be different, because I have read that she frequently feels unwell. If a player feels good to go, I think they should play.

As a kid in back to back years:

2 major concussions accompanied by overnight stay at hospital for observation.
Hit in forehead with baseball bat by someone 10 years older.
Fell 15 feet out of tree.

Results/Data:

Decades later still suffer from daily headaches, daily dizziness, weekly migraines.
Advanced arthritis.
Cervical fusion.
2 daily prescription medications.
