This is so sad it's funny. There are no wrong answers. So far we have:

1. The IG safety
2. The FG return
3. Giving up that long pass play at the end of the 1st half
4. The Pick 6

I'll add:

5. The sorry 3 and out after the turnover, settling for the FG
6. Punting late down 11 on a 4th and short
What about the two punts that weren't downed inside the 5?

I usually have a pretty thick skin at games. I don't mind it when opposing fans root like heck for their team...heck, I expect them to root hard for their team. But ignoring this guy was impossible. Our seats are the last row of 139 and this guy was hanging over the rail yelling right in my ear (I was standing). I sat down after the TD and he continued to hang over the rail and yell at my wife and I. If it was just me and my wife was home (this was the one game a year that she went to...lucky her!), I probably could have ignored him more. But he crossed the line when he started yelling at her. Not to mention, he was holding his beer fairly loosely over the rail and coming dangerously close to spilling it all over her and her friend's heads. He was truly a and a black eye for the Maryland fanbase.
That happened to me the first season at the Rent when we played BC (our seats were in frnt of the scoreboard top row) ...a drunk kid spilled his beer on my wife's head and when I sprung up and spun around to deal with it a State Trooper told me to sit down and relax they would take care of it..as 2 other Troopers hauled the kid out.

I was tempted to leave with the groups of people that left after the pick 6, but I had a little hope left. The intentional grounding safety took that hope away, so that was it for me.

pretty early on, once they got past the the 4th down turnovers and they started moving the ball in big chunks and at will. if they didnt turn the ball over or if they didnt put it on cruise control in the 4th qtr, i could only imaging how much total yardage the Terps would have ended up with

The pick 6. That was the moment when some drunk Maryland fan started spouting his mouth off to my wife and I. He wouldn't leave the standing area right behind our section and kept up the button pushing for a while. He then moved over a section and met up with a friend who joined in on trying to push my buttons (calling me a loser and mimicking my wife who threatened to call security on the guy who I told was getting dangerously close to getting knocked out if he tried touching me again). I lost my temper and ran over to the , got in his face and begged him to punch me first so I could fulfill my promise to him of knocking him out. He "turtled" very quickly and tried to shake my hands like we were buds. Probably because an army of angry UCONN fans came running in from all directions ready to punch the guys too. But after that all settled down and the Maryland fans were ushered out by security (without my wife's prompting), the game and season all grew incredibly discouraging. When drunk fans from MARYLAND (a program that I used to consider worse than UCONN a few years ago) begin coming into our stadium to talk and there is NOTHING I can do or say to fight on behalf of my team/school, that was an absolute low point. Hopefully the Michigan fans will be able to hold their liquor better than these Maryland fans.

should have called security on that and gotten him tossed. By the way the haven't adverstised the Rent security 1-800 number this season.

Good point. UCONN fans are already a bit edgy and this season is toast. Any opposing fan who comes in to our stadium to spout off at our expense is not going to go over well with a few fans. Best to let security handle them.

They were down 11 when they punted. I think they were hoping to pin md deep which they did. They just couldnt move the ball on offense. People were upset with that play but i thought it worked. Just didnt execute on offense.

I should have figured it out after our first scoring drive. The dynamic of the offense changes almost immediately when we get a score. It's a little stupid to try to burn clock when you're only up 7-0 with 85% of the game left to play. I used to get pissed at Edsall about this... but PP is worse... he makes Edsall look like a riverboat gambler.

I completely gave up hope after the pick 6.

for me, it was the run of play from the 3 minute mark to the end of the first half. they punted from deep to give us the ball near midfield with 3:00 min in the half at 10-10. we run the 1st down no-no (no read - no option) for -1 and two incompletes (should have had a PI call go our way on one of them), punt the ball back at 2:30 and give up a long drive. we just seem oblivious to advanced ;) football concepts like field position and clock management.

plus there's been a lot of night games. People are a lot more drunk and rowdy when the games are later.

What got me was the lack of responsiblity and blame taken by the coaching staff after the loss to Towson. To top that off was the perceived sheer complacency of the entire situation by the UCONN administration.

We didn't have the time to waste when the punt was made. Not the mention the message sent to the team.

At what point did you lose all hope last night? This could probably be a weekly thread for the rest of the season.

I couldn't bare another second after the intentional grounding safety.

Honestly, I thought we were done the moment Kevin Friend limped off the field. Notwithstanding that on paper we had a chance to win for a lot longer than that.

As usual beg of 2nd half they march down the field and score in 5 plays, even after fumbling the first try. People began to walk out then. I knew we did nothing to change the game plan, just whine about all of the little things. It's more of the same and unfortunately time to clean house.
